I learned to drive on a 1985 Mercury Lynx Wagon. What's cool about it is that it was a diesel, something most people didn't know existed. That sucker got over 50 MPG.

Leave it to Donkey to be an ass hole. Shocking.
I'm sorry, were you being serious about that 3.8 Pontiac being "fast"?

I had a girl friend who had a similar Chevy Euro something or other SSish whatever. She was fast.

Is this the actual car?....I mean how did you possibly get all the chicks to not hang all over the thing long enough to get a picture?

You rotate the head gaskets every 30,000k miles on those, right? At least for the gassers.

Maybe the Mazda diesel was the right choice.

That 4-banger diesel was an awesome little motor. 2.0 liter. It was an option in the Escort/Lynx and the Tempo/Topaz from 1984 to 1986. You could easily get 500 miles on 10 gallons of fuel.

That’s not the actual car, but that’s exactly what it looked like right down to the color.

The first car that was actually mine was a 1987 Mitsubishi Galant.

Mitsubishi was very active in the US in the '80s and '90s. Then they went quiet. The only thing they have now that gets people excited is the Evo, and that's a limited audience.

Alfa Romeo Giulia. A great looking sedan at a reasonable price.

My friend had, and I shortly had, an Isuzu Impulse. Pretty neat car that gave that Mitsu Starion a run for its money in the" Im driving an xwing fighter" feeling.

Neither the Impulse nor the Starion were fast, but they handled well and were quick enough.

Evo? mehhh, find me an old Starion or Impulse in good shape.

I also had a Mitsu Montero, the big one. What a tank. Great truck.

Dodge owned or controlled them at one point in the 90s, same w Saab, Suzuki and Isuzu by GM, and Volvo by Ford. Detroit nearly destroyed each import's US business by forcing them to pump out rebadged Americun trash.

I helped a girlfriend buy an Impulse in the late '80s. Had a lot of electronics as I recall.

My son badgered me to test drive an Evo five years ago. I went ahead and did it, although I had no intention to buy.

The salesman drove the car off the lot and down US 19 about a quarter-mile before letting me drive. He practically redlined a cold motor. I scolded him over it.

He somehow thought I was going to be impressed by what he did. Dumb. It made me realize I never wanted to buy a car from this dealer no matter what it was they were selling.
