That isnt terrible. You do have to laugh with people trying to spin he had good success at Miss State when he routinely lost to the better teams there
Preach!!!! Hes an above average coach on his best day. And from the looks of it an average recruiter. Welcome to Mac 2.5. He will do much better as a coach but he wont ever out recruit Miami or FSU while at UF which means hes likely to finish around 10-14 in recruiting every year. Hes a 8-5 coach with the occasional 10 win season with a bowl win included. Never understood why anyone was excited to have him as our coach. Is he an upgrade over Mac heck yea but hes proved to be an average coach period. No he wasn't, that's a myth that doesn't hold up to the data. He had a losing record in conference which is why he went tied for 4th, 5th, 5th, 4th, tied for 5th, 2nd, tied for 5th, tied for 5th, tied for 4th. He fielded a competitive team one year, 2014. There are only 7 teams in the division so if you finish in the bottom half every single frikkin year but 1, that's not being competitive. He feasted on weaklings in his OOC schedule and did respectably in bowl games, but that's about it.
Mississippi State Bulldogs (Southeastern Conference) (2009–2017)
2009 Mississippi State 5–7 3–5 T–4th (Western)
2010 Mississippi State 9–4 4–4 5th (Western)
2011 Mississippi State 7–6 2–6 5th (Western)
2012 Mississippi State 8–5 4–4 4th (Western)
2013 Mississippi State 7–6 3–5 T–5th (Western)
2014 Mississippi State 10–3 6–2 2nd (Western)
2015 Mississippi State 9–4 4–4 T–5th (Western)
2016 Mississippi State 6–7 3–5 T–5th (Western)
2017 Mississippi State 8–4 4–4 T–4th (Western)
In case some people haven't realized there is hardly any correlation between recruiting and results the first few years a coach is at these big schools. The coach can either recruit or he can't is usually the issue or maybe has a staff that aren't good recruiters.Wait until the class is in before jumping to conclusions about our efforts in California. Oregon and USC could look bad on the field this year. It isn't over until it is over.
Id just about guarantee Stricklin doesnt last long enough to make the second hire.At least the full contract isn't guaranteed
Where is the 4-8?No he wasn't, that's a myth that doesn't hold up to the data. Two losing seasons in the last eight years also.Where is the 4-8?
4-8? The west? Two losing seasons in the last eight years also.
You think 5-7 is better?4-8? The west?
In the west yes, what's his east record? You think 5-7 is better?
Cowbell plays two1aa teams most years and a total of 4 creampuffs directional schools every season. They have no Clown Town or other tough games out of conference. Their cross conference "rival" every year is Kintucky. Going 5-7 vs that schedule? He had five wins GUARANTEED every year... even if you don't consider a probationary interim coach at Ole Piss and Pigbert (Mr. 11-29) a guaranteed win.
Unfortunately, he only gets four guaranteed wins here, at best.
8-0 vs Kintucky. In the west yes, what's his east record?
Hasn't even coached a game and he's an absolute failure8-0 vs Kintucky.
What is your point? Youre working pretty hard here at developing a fairy tail.
He is .500 against the Arky and Ole Piss of the world. He will be that vs the Chickens and Voles also, maybe worse given that he is recuiting worse than at Cowbell.
The good news is that he has a pretty solid record against Creampuffs that aren't South Alabama.
He was a failure before we hired him.Hasn't even coached a game and he's an absolute failure
All is lost, cut with the veins long waysHe was a failure before we hired him.
He was a failure when he didn't know what to do with the All SEC Qb, WR and RB he inherited in 2005.
Solid answer. All is lost, cut with the veins long ways
I assume you are referring to Mac's 4-7? At the risk of sounding like a pumper, I'll go out on a limb and say Mullen is a much better coach than 'Ole Quiverlips McElwain even before Mullen coaches his first game.Where is the 4-8?
In a much tougher division, surely this POS mullen had at leat one in the west.
This is true, Mullinz is better, but we are talking C- versus an F.I assume you are referring to Mac's 4-7? At the risk of sounding like a pumper, I'll go out on a limb and say Mullen is a much better coach than 'Ole Quiverlips McElwain even before Mullen coaches his first game.
I was thinking it's kind of like complementing a cook by telling them the dish tastes better than a steaming pile of dwagsht. This is true.
But we are talking C- versus an F.
