No possible way that repeated head trauma spread out over a decade or more would have any lasting negative effects on the brain. He’s right.

"Fedora said he'd talked to military personnel who'd suggested the success of the U.S. military was due, in part, to the number of football players who went on to join the armed forces."
---------------------

Curious if they even join at a higher rate. My guess is its about the same rate as non football players but I might be wrong on that. The thing about success is just a PC type statement by him I guess.

I do agree the game will be ruined if much more is done rule wise.

So he now thinks he is a doctor? Now I don't believe it is the only factor, or that other sports can also damage your brain. What an idiot!!

Putting on helmets will make football a weakling sport.

Moving away from iron man football will make it a weakling sport.

Fedora may have jumped the shark here. He's getting torn up in the media.

I hope they fire him. I'd take Fedora back as OC in a second.

The science is causing a major change in participants. I have no idea where the game is going. I will say that the game we played is gone. I have been involved with our local Pop Warner program since 2006. At the height we had 13 teams of 30+ kids ages 5-15 playing in a conference with 18 cities. This year we will struggle to field 6 teams of 25. There are only 11 cities still in the conference. Some have folded and some bolted to less regulated leagues. I can imagine in a decade from now there will be less collegiate programs.

Today Fedora came out and said he misspoke. He meant to say "I'm sure that anything is proven that football, itself, causes [CTE]," Fedora said. He had said "I'm not sure" but blamed it on his misspeaking.

In all seriousness, this is ridiculous. Too much evidence.

The science is that soccer and several other sports have more cte, though i think that is a reporting bias.

Well, no. The rate of concussions is higher, but the constant sub-concussive blows seems to make football far worse as far as long-term.

Not sure about the rest of the world, but US Soccer banned heading below U12 for this reason.

CTE can only be diagnosed via autopsy. Since autopsy is both rare and not random, I think we can draw few conclusions about really any sport and CTE.

I think what you are thinking of is soccer and other sports and concussions.
