Mullen's dream realized in Gainesville

Interesting vid I saw linked on twitter. I’ve said before, if Mullen somehow coaches go back up his talk he could be great, but it’s the coaching we doubt. I like his attitudes and his vision of Gator Nation is in this together unlike the team vs. admin/fans/world that seemed to come through the last staff.

He at least is talking a good game but he needs to get recruiting up to standards to get the ship righted.

Cut the guy some slack. He may not be the second coming of Urban Meyer -- oh wait, maybe that's no longer desirable -- but the man has come in with an upbeat attitude, tons of energy and he deserves a chance to prove himself. Crappy first-year recruiting and all.

I'm dying to say it.

IT'S GREAT TO BE A FLORIDA GATOR!

Law, eff off.

Agreed. I think off the field, outside of the recruiting side he has done about a good of a job I could hope for any coach. The hesitation is gameday and recruiting.

Yep he surprised me there because he had a reputation of not being that type of person. I wont even hold it against him if we go 7-5 due to Franks etc. but he must get recruiting squared away by the next class.

Exactly, I remember the scuttlebutt being how “standoffish” he could be.

Here’s a conundrum, what if his standoff nature relates simply to Jeremy Foley and Foley’s thoughts on football? could some of the complaints about Mullen’s negative attitude be sour grapes from Foley who people don’t trust with the sport? Does that mean people have to choose between Mullen and Foley?

:eek3:

By Halloween, we will see what your attitude is.

I'm pretty sure I'll still think it's great to be a Florida Gator. How about you?

As for Mullen, I've made that clear numerous times. He wasn't my first choice, he wasn't my last. I'm as uncertain of the future as you. Until Armageddon happens, it hasn't.

Agreed on the first point as well as the latter two. We'll know soon about game day. Recruiting remains to be seen, but clearly it will have to pick up beyond where it currently stands. Like many things nowadays it is graded on what have you done lately. Certainly there are obstacles from the past two regimes that must still be overcome. I'm of the opinion that the on-field product will have an impact, one way or the other, but there is still work to be done to improve the image of Gator football beyond game day. I'd rather have an HBC that at this point expresses his passion for the job and responsibilities than to speak incomprehensibly as did the previous coach. The proof, however, will be in the pudding and I'm looking for positive results.

FWIW, I heard the same thing, that boosters HATED him and Fooley (to his credit, @Captain Sasquatch) wouldnt even talk to him.

That being said, we hired a Cowbell admin and got a Cowbell coach. The recruits are all that matter really. If he signs great classes and starts winning no one will care (or remember) that he is an a-hole.

SOS AND CUM are a-holes.

His wife probably regrets that.

Life is full of irony. This is yet another example.
