Stoops is clearly bad, but the point about Mullen is many can see his scheme is flawed in that he can't win unless he has superior talent, and it appears he is unable to adapt or grow.

He got the golden ticket with this job and it was his chance to re-invent himself, to step back and be more of a CEO, hire a real OC, bring in (and keep) elite recruiters. Instead he just went the MSU East route, so to expect anything other than MSU results is simply wishful thinking.

At least Stoops is smart enough to realize he's not smart enough.

Horse hockey.

SOS had a Heisman winning QB, Meyer as well. Look at the talent Saban has had. Nothing special about Saban's schemes. Just recruit better than everyone else and you win.

In other words everyone depends on superior talent.

To win a championship. Mullenz can’t break 500. See the difference?

I started to write this yesterday but got distracted.

Saban isn't some great coach. His defensive schemes are good but not revolutionary or without weaknesses, his STs are nothing special, and his offenses are trash. He wins by having better players than you and has them 3 or 4 deep.

He also wins by having several hundred support staff. Like an NFL team, they have studied every bit of film on every team and coach. They know every player and have every scrap of film on him. They hire every fired coach and demand playbooks, keys and reads. They know your plays before you run them based off formation, players on the field and down and distance. They may even know what you are going to run before you do.

THAT is why he wins.

Before he had that stuff, he was a 5 loss coach at Meatchicken State and a 4 loss coach at Corndog.

Will the new Defense feature any sort of sideline turnover prop? I think the turnover chains, title belts, etc add excitement to the game. I hope TG will break something out on Sat.

I was told to expect Franks to be announced as the Starter tomorrow. No special source, just someone who knows people, so take it FWIW.

Saw that on Reddit as well. Is that where you got that from? Jk.
Not reddit, just a friend of mine who is obsessed with the team and has friends equally obsessed. Like I said FWIW. I think most on here was think Franks all along

Yeah I wonder if people were showing their bias when saying Trask was much better than Franks during fall camp.

I'd be surprised if it wasn't FF, but I also kind of expected Mullen to milk the announcement a little longer. But since it's game prep time, tomorrow would make sense.

Yup, from what we've seen of his running, and the likelihood that he will be expected to actually run past the line of scrimmage rather than out of bounds 7 yards behind it, definitely makes me think GeoFFrey the GiraFFe isn't going to last too long.

What I'm hoping is EJ is actually developing a lot better than Mullen is letting on, but he is just using Frask as crash test dummies to save Emory until we need him, but that seems unlikely and more likely we're just eff'ed again.

In other news, Scott Frost named a true freshman his starting QB. I'm curious how he would have handled the QB situation at UF (had he taken the job). I'm not sure why Mullen is being cute about naming a starter.....or it's just that bad.
