Wasn't there one more cupcake game in the chump era, where they took us to the brink and we won on the last play of regulation on a punt block and score by Purifoy.

I think you're referring to Furman who was beating us most the game.

Agreed. Tilly is being a bit selective in his stats. The NM Aggies game was also the inauggaral Butters game, and we all know how that ended.

Cupcakes are like one night stands. You're never as good as you think nor as bad as she imagined.

In 2015, Butters also went on to beat Ole Miss, ranked 3 at the time we played them, and they ended up being ranked 9th at the end of the season. Are there any ranked teams on our schedule that we think we have chance to beat this year? I'd say maybe LSU or FSU, and both are overrated IMO.

We had a really good defense in 2015. We have a really good D line and CBs this year but the rest of the defense isn't 2015 standards I would think. The offense was pretty bad that year - heck we had to sweat out a 14-9 KY win that season.

Additionally, we lost our starting QB too. That season lost a lot of promise once Grier went out.

But the game play looked way different. It looked like we wanted to play and played with a swagger. The other games listed tlwe still had clear problems and just seemed to go through the motions

I mentioned them in the OP. I said this was the THIRD blowout since Urban left. So 2 out of like 10. Urban amd Steve blew out all of their cupcakes generally.

The point , is more often than we have struggles against teams we should blow out.

This was the worst team we have played in a decade. FAU would have hung 75 on em.

It would give me a little more faith if it was like a top sunbelt level FBS team that was projected to contend for their conference championship. A team like Troy or App State.

It was Louisiana-Monroe, we blocked a punt towards the end and won 27-20. We also struggled vs. Jacksonville State, 23-0, in the same 2012 season.

Furman was 2011, we won 54-32.

Exactly, McElwain's opener was better in many dimensions that Mullen's including on 10 yards of penalties in McElwain's opener. We all know how that worked out.

Agreed. We look at numbers alone, in all measures, Butters' inaugural game was better than Mullin's.

Total yards: 606 vs 444
Passing: 384 vs 241
Rushing: 222 vs 203

We allowed:200 yards in 2015, vs 225 yesterday.

Yes, all this pumper analysis is like the fanboys going over a Chuck Liddell vs. Swamp Donkey MMA match. Liddell wins 100 out of 100 rounds. Each one a knockout. In less than 20 seconds.
