Reese listed as starting ILB. Hope that's not wishful thinking. Dan said they'll hold him out and then see how he does later this week.

Heggie was not ready to go Saturday. Hope he heals up quick.

I’m looking forward to seeing if the offense is for real or it was just the opponent last week.

We’ve had fools gold vs. Kentucky in the past, too. I won’t be sure until October, but this is a good next step for a team building reps and confidence.

One thing that we haven't discussed much is how good the offense looked and how much we spread the ball around WITHOUT Toney. I'm super excited to see how Mullen gets the ball in his hands. We have multiple legitimate WR threats for the first time in a longggg time. Defenses can't just double team our one good threat. I think spreading the field and getting Toney in space is going to cause UK fits. If they focus on him our guys on the outside will burn them. Mullen learned what throws Franks can make in actual gameplay and I think he will be calling plays to get our studs the ball.

Heggie has a playbook to learn also. He missed spring and fall practice.

Even if he is healed miraculously and completely tomorrow, he isn't ready.

I think we all expect to win, and win convincingly. If UK can't beat us at their home in 2017 with Butters, they should not expect being close in 2018.

On the other hand, if we lose to UK at the Swamp, I think everyone's expectations will come crashing down. This is a must-win for Mullen. No room for error.

41-17.

I think I might be ill. This normally gleeful pumper has a little dobut about this game; not to the point that we will lose, rather that it will cause a lot of drinking and screaming at the TV on my part....I'm in Texas.. I think we pull away at the end, franks sfruggles, we have issues with their running game, and we have to rely on our RBs a lot.

OBTW. Can some please start a look a like thread? I would but last year we didn't have great success when I started them and I'm a little superstitious

I was pretty quiet at the game. I think Sonny's BBQ on Archer Rd poisoned me before the game and I was afraid if I stood up and cheered I would chit my pants.
Pinching one off while cheering for the Gators is nothing to be ashamed of. Fans around you will understand.

Dear HC Mullen,

UK v UF is a major event for us & you. Event #2 in our journey back. It will be chronicled on television. It is important to the nth degree. So, Mullen & crew, have this team ready to conquer UK with your D and with your O. Put UK in its place = losing to UF big time.

GatorNation congratulates you & your crew of coaches for presenting us with re-found pride and fired-up hope that's so essential to a football program. All done in just your first game back. Don't let up. We want petal to the metal fierceness with zero let up. As HC, show us several individual players in max improvement because they were coached up, developed - a remarkable marker for future recruits to alert to & to treasure. So, show everyone everywhere that the Mullenized Gators are growing to join the playoff contenders.

P.S.> glad your here.

This could be a tough game. UK's opponent, Central Mich is a real Div one team with better players than CSU by a long shot so they got a better challenge in their tuneup.

UK played sloppy in the first half with multiple turnovers which kept it close, but seemed to knock off the rust and played a lot better in the second half with their play-makers stepping up.

They rushed for around 300 yards in this game and had good production and 2 rushing TD's from Benny Snell as expected, (even though he was reportedly ill before the game). But the surprise was RS Frosh AJ Rose was as productive having a big game going over 100 yards and also 2 rushing TDs so they look to have a legitimate 1-2 punch that is going to challenge our line and LB's. Run support is going to be critical for our DB and we can't afford the 2 hand touch tackle techniques we saw last year.

UK seems a little unsettled at QB with starter Terry Wilson getting a minor injury in the first half giving backup Gunnar Hoak a chance to lead the Cats to a TD at the end of the 2nd Q taking the lead before half. Hoak got more time in the second half even though Wilson was ready. Wilson finished the game and neither did a whole lot, but Hoak probably played better overall. Freshman Wideout David Bouvier was the most effective receiver scoring the only TD of the passing game and returned punts effectively and looks pretty dangerous in that role.

Their defense actually played well but were put in a bad place with the offense turning the ball over repeatedly on their side of the field. There was also a helmet to helmet call that gave CMU a very short field. This is pretty much the same defense that pushed our O-Line around all day long last year and they are are expected to be better this year with another year of experience and training.

I expect we win, but this could easily be an even game in the 4th Q and I doubt some of your score predictions are realistic, but I hope you are right. This defense will put a lot more pressure on our O-Line and FF, and this running game is one of the better we will face this year so our D better be ready.

Ohh, they also averaged 50 yds a punt and didn't attempt any FG's.

We will learn a lot more from this game. If it is close I don't think that is going to be a condemnation of our team but rather this is a decent SEC team we are going to face and if we make enough mistakes they are good enough to capitalize and break the streak.
