And yet the number of people, t included, who bytched about the number of times we flung it in the air in the first half.

The guy can't win for losing.
Was flinging it in the air playing to our strengths? I don’t believe it was. Why were those the chosen plays? Was that Mullen trying to impose his offense or pounding the RB our strengths?

Tell me how well we were doing running between the tackles. Look, I'm not trying to be argumentative, but rather I am trying to point how hemmed in the guy is with this group of athletes.

If he fails over the next two recruiting classes, but esp this next one, to fill those spaces with the athletes he needs, I'll be right there with you heckling the guy.

I'm gonna give him his chance first.

OL and physicality. Two biggest issues among many. Going to take time to fix this, not sure if Mullen can get it done or not.

We didn't lose because we were trying to learn a new offense. We lost because we got our ashes kicked on the LOS. And our defense completely regressed. The offense actually looks a little better.
Agreed. Last year was horrible and we are still playing last year's QB. Not near as many busted plays, penalties and undisciplined actions. Steps in right direction or maybe better stated as bending the curve.

Make the offense exciting. I will tend to agree throwing too much does not play to FF strengths and that we should exploit strengths. Just struggling to find them to exploit.

KY returned a butt load of starters who have obviously been working hard. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard. 8-9 months of hard work doesn't overcome 3+ years of hard work in the same system.

Defense didn't give up 27 points.

Frank's looks tremendously improved over last year. Still has a long way to go.

You can't make chicken salad out of chicken****. This OL is chicken****. Worst in the SEC and maybe last in P5. They are just not good. I don't know if it is physical or mental. My guess is mental. They seem hesitant and that makes them appear slow because they are still figuring things out.

Wait until we play ranked teams and Mullen continues his inability to beat them.....

What would you call our strengths? Running behind that awesome line?

He seemed to have some success early on some intermediate stuff, but I can only imagine a pick 6 was bound to happen the way his performance went downhill

Thanks for the post Marianna. Honestly, I was surprised at how few transfers we had during the transition (it was basically a typical off-season, it seems). I expected at least 5 more.

If we can bring in 25 recruits and add a couple of transfers, this roster will well over half-way turned over. With the transfers, graduations, and early departures (NFL) the only Butters players left should be the one's who want to be here and will actually contribute (I hope)....
We cannot play like we did sat night and expect to bring in a full class but hopefully that atrocity never happens again. With that being said We have some guys who are causing problems inside the locker room who haven't done much of anything yet they believe they're 1st round picks! Those guys are upperclassmen so I expect them all to bolt after the season and go undrafted which will allow us to sign more but we'll see what happens going forward. I also expect several transfers of guys who should of never been brought in to begin with because they are not good enough to contribute. We have alot of momentum on the trail at the moment with guys like black recruiting HARD for us and now Jaylon williams has joined his efforts so we'll be ok if we don't completely tank this season. I spoke to Black at our tailgate party sat and he told me that he and others see immediate playing time at UF. He also said we have a couple more commits coming soon so hopefully that still happens after that sh*t show performance last weekend!

We ran the 29 times the entire game. 11 were from Franks and 2 from Tooney. That leave 16 for entire strength of stable RBs.

In the 1st half, Franks ran 6 times and the other RBs ran 7 totaling 13 for the half.

We just didn’t play to our strengths which is my beef. A good coach has to play to the personal, especially a coach who just took over with other coaches players.

I agree 100% with the OP. The only thing I can add is that Mullen has to recruit players that want to win. What I saw Saturday night was a team filled with players that don't have that "it" that winners do. I think this is solely on the back of McElwain. When you're recruiting 3 stars they just don't have that "it" that 4 and 5 stars do. Attitude goes a long way in sports and recruiting winners is key.

We've recruited well at the skill positions and at corner....that's it! Go look at the grades of our OL,DE,DT,LB and safety over the last 4 cycles then holla back! Other than Ivey (who's a bust) on OL and Conliffe/Slaton (who was evaluated at OL when he received his 4* rating) that's the only blue chip players we have starting. You win in the trenches and we're severely lacking top tier talent at those positions!

What is your take on Gouraige? Do you think we will see him or Stone over at LT with Heggie and Ivey at the guard spots?

I hate to think what Georgia will do to the Gators this year. It may be a 40-point difference if they don't let up. Maybe the Gators can beat Tennessee anyway...

Running between the tackles was going to be no bueno. We did have success on the intermediate stuff that we went away from. I think FFneeds the continual success of shorter stuff to keep his head in the game. Really needs work on his reads, he might be making the correct sideline throw on that rpo (even though that throw is not what he excels at) but if the slant receivers man is ten yards off him and you need 5.... was that the correct read? He might not have that latitude or ability.

I'm gonna blame the coach that's making 6 mil a year rather than the kids that were evaluated by every recruiting service out there as better than the team that just kicked in their teeth. This same group of players managed to beat Kentucky last year. We lost very few starters from last year. This team got worse under Mullen.

This isn't directed at you, t, but Jesus Christ this place can be insufferable after games like Saturday night; the same type of games we've been seeing for the last DECADE. Every freaking member of GCMB, with the possible exception of Boss, knows this program is as close to rock bottom as it has ever been, and if we're truthful with ourselves, we also know it will be a long, slow climb out of this latrine the team has been in, forever it seems.

We should all be pissed-off about the shytshow we saw, this will always be the staff and players that lost the streak, but holy fvkk, we knew going in that the show was made of shyt to begin with. And now it's #FIRE-EVERYFVKKINGBODY because they couldn't take the shyt they were given and turn them all into Bama/UGAy by the second game.

I predicted 6-6 for the year, totally and completely because of the roster; now I'm thinking we'll be lucky to reach such lofty heights. There are some ass-whippings forthcoming.

Mullen’s thumbprint on UF’s program is evident, but so is Mac’s footprint...

Good point, the RB’s have not been featured at all this year. Davis should be getting bulk of carries, because Scarlett has disappointed up to this point. I think Davis should be getting 15-20 touches a game, then have Perine or Pierce get the other 10-12 touches. Sprinkle in some wildcat with Toney or some jet sweeps. Franks will have to run some, but should be 5 or less if we can help it. We just don’t need Franks throwing the ball more than 20 times a game. I honestly think we should try to be a 65-70% run team, looks like our defense would benefit from the rest and shortened game that would produce.

Why not? The other big football schools in the South bring in top rated new coach 2nd classes even while playing like crap. Mac was about the only exception I can think of that didn't in recent years.

how many of those 11 rushes for Franks were called passes that he had to get out of trouble due to the line.
