Sas is one of the top xs and Os guy.

Frankly all you "he is locking on to the receiver" guys, 80% of all.message board posts about any team about any QB, are hilarious sometimes.
Well that puts me in the company of Jordan Rodgers who has said the same thing that many of us are saying. I'll take that.

QB is the problem, huh?

It's worth another look.

I didn't watch much of the game. But what little I did, showed about the same from the OL on most plays. It was hard to find a play in which all five linemen actually did their job.

Against Kintucky.

Ivey with a poor effort gets beat on an inside spin move. He plays like a guy who simply doesn't care. Little to no effort.
Jordan actually does a decent job. Keeping his man to the outside, which is fine considering it isn't a rollout PA.
The center here just gets whipped plain and simple.
Fred comes off his man who ends up getting the sack, and blocks the guy that whipped Buchanon.
Had he stayed on his man I estimate it would have gotten Feliepe another 2 seconds of time.
Jawaan steps down but doesn't pickup anybody. In his defense real easy to get a block in the back there.
He ends up blocking nobody.
C'yontai blocks his guy who doesn't put up much of a fight. Likely due to the fact that he is in coverage against him.

Conclusion: Sack is largely due to Buchanon getting whipped. TJ's snapping must be terrible for him to be on the pine.

Franks is terrible. He's making the same mistakes his always made and horribly inaccurate. Until we get a decent QB you can whine about the o-line all day but it won't change.

Sure he does not read D very well. But how about this.

No running game means little to no play action.

No decent protection means less time to decide and more pressure to just say run.

Most decent football watchers know that motion it to somewhat detect man vs zone.

Our receivers are still not getting separation, if they were the throws would be easier, and in the last game several throws were poor that resulted in gains, good team even if you got that open you would not stay that open.

It's a mutually osmotic relationship. This OL and Franks make a great couple.

Armchair QBs love to pretend to be coaches. Posting a video that shows a QB not throwing to an open receiver may not entail what you think it does.
QBs have progressions and sometimes a guy may come open before/after the QB sees him. That doesn't mean the QB is an idiot, incapable of reading a defense.
I'm not saying this is the case with Franks, but you would have to be more intimately involved with the program to actually know what he should have been looking at on a particular play.

You can get by with a poor qb, plenty of teams just run, run, run. Almost impossible to do anything w poor OL.

Hard to do that when you prime theory is every play must be slow developing with multiple fakes.

Franks isnt an option QB, which is the only kind Mullinz knows how to use.
Dude, it doesn't require an "option QB" to process open WR's.

Could you also tell me stories of our "option QB" Chris Leak?

Yeah we struggled our ass off, could hardly move the ball, all the internet morons talked shyt about him and the crowd booed him. Then the talking heads said we should never be in a playoff bc our offense sucked too much...... then we had that one game in Arizona when we finally let him pass again.

What if it’s the other way around?

Franks' OL gives him too little time for any QB to function. Being forced to roll out doesn't count as getting time from OL blocking. When your QB expects to be "put upon" before reads are possible, his body mechanics are clumsy, his vision never focuses. For sure Franks' mechanics, ergo accuracy has to improve. No way can that occur if he can't count on a decent # of seconds to set his stance, scan the field.

It's both, but he needs to improve what he's doing and worry about him. He can't fix the O-line and there were piss poor reads when he DID have time. Last year it was pretty much a consensus on this board that he should be done at the QB position. It will be that way again by the UGay game.
