You don't know where ur going of you don't know where you've been. So how did we get here?
Recroots:
2018 - 2 3*s 2 4*s Bleich, Mcdowell, Banks, Gouraige
2017 - 3 4*s Telfort, Moore, Slayton
2016 - 3 3*s Forsyth, Heggie, Taylor
2015 - 5 3*s 1 5* Sandifer, DJ, Buchanon, Ivey, TJ Mcoy, Tyler Jordan, Fred Johnson

Depth Chart:
LT Ivey, Forsyth
LG Jordon, Heggie
C Buchanon, McCoy, Vilano (walkon?)
RG Johnson, Bliech
RT Taylor, Banks

What happened to McDowell and Gouraige? Gouraige was a big get as I recall.
Slayton - moved to tackle
Telfort - CC scam
TJ Moore - Injured?
The 16's are all in the lineup
Sandifer and DJ transferred.

Help arrives in 2019 but you can't expect any of those guys to start. That leaves us with 10-11 bodies
LT: Ivey is a bust. If Forsyth isn't pushing him by now woe unto us next year.
LG: I guess Heggie is replacing Jordan and will be here next year
C: Buchanon will be back I assume - don't know if that's a good thing
RG: Johnson is gone
RT Taylor or is Banks ready?

So what does the 2019 line look like?

What Zach Alborvadi saw last year after the Michigan game:

After landing just six offensive linemen total from 2010 [Urban] -12, the Gators signed 17 prospects at the position from 2013-15 to get their numbers back up.

The problem?

Only two players have finished their college career at UF as multi-year starters. They’re also the only two in the NFL right now (Trent Brown and David Sharpe).

Just three of those 17 signees (Martez Ivey, Tyler Jordan and Fred Johnson) are still with the team and have started multiple games.

The rest of them either transferred, switched positions, suffered career-ending injuries and have been reserve players throughout their career.
Florida's offensive line woes trace back to recruiting

Eight years. Eight years. Counseling patience will, no doubt, be derided as pumperism.

Don't know how soon to realistically expect improvement out of this group. I can't believe how bad Ivey has been. Is it lack of talent or just laziness? Or after three line coaches in 3 years he's just like f' it.
One day we'll have SEC caliber jr's and sr's on the line and plug in 4*s jr's when they leave.

I heard Heggie’s and Forsythe’s names getting called on the radio broadcasts and it was well before garbage time so it seems they are working their way into the rotation more.

I think we can significantly improve our OL if we have a suitable backup RT. Move Taylor to LT, Ivey to G, and slide in a RT. Oh and move Johnson out of the Line

should be recruiting 10-12 down linemen a year, the fail and injury rate of these positions are too high not to.

Unfortunately, until we actually do this and Mullen is smart enough to implement any plans to do so...well, embrace the suck, it's gonna linger for a while.

Whatever happened to getting a couple JUCO OL players each year? Is that frowned upon now?

Cowbell did it but for various reasons it is very hard to land jucos at UF.

I thought Spurrier used to do it? I know Zook did and I also though Meyer did a couple times.
No. I remember precious few jucos under SOS. Was Ian Scott a juco? I dont remember any.

JUCOs are desperation. It's never a good sign and you hurt yourself going forward.

No, Scott wasn't a JUCO. I think you're right, Spurrier didn't do it much but Zook sure did.

Florida coach Ron Zook took a dive into the risky world of junior-college recruits Wednesday, signing five of them to play for the Gators next season. The five are offensive linemen Tavarus Washington, Anthony Guerrero and Bill Griffin, tight end David Kenner and defensive tackle Eric Holcombe.
