I'm usually in Tennessee the second weekend. I may drive up to see the UK game.

I hate the two FCS games, but if lower level FBS teams refuse to play us, and we have to fill a 12 game schedule, what else are we supposed to do? Play Miami and FSU each twice?

With Miami and FSU OOC and AU and LSU cross-division, this is a challenging schedule even with the cupcakes. Looks like strike 2 to me.

I don't think it's any coincidence that they waited until after he'd officially signed his contract to release this.

If there's any verbiage about 4 losses within a 30-day window being grounds for "with cause", I may have actually had some of my faith restored in Stricklin.

At most jobs, if you are one of the worst in the country, they fire you for cause.

Why da fvk do we always end up playing Miami when we suck and they are on the rise?

God dammit!

Always. Outside of ‘08, I can’t think of a single time in my life that we’ve had the upper hand, with only ‘00 and ‘13 being close to comparable. It’s the most skewed W/L record of all time because of it. And it’s why I have zero desire to ever play those dirtbags again. We gain nothing, and it never works our way.

I wonder if we can't schedule a fbs school. I'd love to play a down power 5 team like Indiana, ucla, Kansas, or north Carolina but I doubt they'd schedule us.

They'd want us to play them at their place. Because of the Cocktail party in Jax the UAA is not willing to give up the home revenue. So basically it will never change.

We played Michigan at a neutral site? I'm guessing those make us $ don't they?

That's how we are playing Miami this year. I would bet we don't make as much as a home game, even a shytty one. For instance you have to split ticket sales with the neutral site. You have the cost of travel. And it gives up money for the local economy so there is that resistance. The games are not easy to schedule and honestly there's not a lot of want to do it.

Quick math. What's the face value of a ticket these days? $45? $45 x 80,000 - $3.6M. Is Orlando paying us $3.6M to play there? I bet not.

And Miami will be in Orlando next year too.

In odd years, we can play somewhat higher-profile matchups like that at neutral sites since college football is trending toward having 3-4 marquee OOC matchups per week the first few weeks of the season.

But I doubt it'll ever be a regular occurrence for us year in and year out because:
1) we have f$u every single year (usually a VERY strong OOC opponent)
2) we have georgia every year at a neutral site in JAX (one of only a handful of teams that do this every year)
3) home games are at an added premium as a result of #2 and much of our revenue to balance the books comes from the home games we play

Edit: plus...so long as the SEC is still seen as the dominant conference in college football, a 1-loss Gator team that emerges from the SEC will almost always get a spot in the playoff, regardless of whether we played a FCS school or not. Our strength of schedule is usually pretty difficult. Next year especially: Auburn, LSU, georgia, miami, AND f$u? If that isn't the toughest schedule next year, it's no worse than top 3.

Other than some fans (prolly the same that want a 16 team playoff) wanting it, it doesn't make a lot of sense to do it.

Bc Mullinz win percentage against p5 teams is abysmal.

Youd better pray we play 4 FCS teams every year like he did at Cowbell.
