My God, imagine how ugly it would be on this board if we had lost. It was a win - not a pretty one, but a win none the less. By any reasonable standard we are making real progress. I would suggest to those who still refuse to acknowledge the general improvement that they re-watch the sorry spectacle we all witnessed during the later part of last season. Oh and by the way, "what might have happened if" is little more than intellectual masturbation. Players get hurt or unjustly ejected and the game goes on. Also, the other team has highly paid coaches and gives out scholarships just like we do. Being "out coached" for a specific segment of a particular game is nothing new either. Coming back with an adjustment is what a good staff does - like our staff did today. The scoreboard tells the tale yet again. Good grief.

Think it was that he won't win championships, which has always been my biggest concern also. He's started strong. Gotta start recruiting better to get that done.

Well from midway 2nd qtr until the end of the game I think there is a good possibility we outcoached them by holding to 2 FG’s.

They lost their best player. And it is Vandy...no depth.

Who ever gave us any credit for the Mash Unit we ran the last few years? Part of the game. Suck it up. We beat them down.
Exactly. We had half our secondary out and one of our best LB's got ejected on a BS call. Gotta play with what you got.

I.e. if Mac was still here you wouldn't see NFL talent.
But that's what good coaches do, they develop the talent.
Of course there was NFL talent on Mac's teams. We had a player drafted in the first round in both 2017 and 2018, 8 players drafted 2017, 5 drafted last year, another half dozen or more picked up as free agents, have had 15 players taken in the first round over the decade a futility. Cleveland, Scarlet, Perine, Ivey, CC, Henderson, Wilson, etc all had and have NFL talent despite bad coaching.

Remarkably, despite being painful to watch over the last decade, we are still a top 5 as far as players drafted over the last 10 years:

Alabama(65)
LSU (65)
USC: (62)
Ohio State: (56)
Florida: (55)

Mullen and staff are doing a great job and have us ahead of schedule, but they're not doing it with scrubs and walk-ons.

Their offense went to crap after they lost their best player. I'm not sure why you are having difficulty with this. They dont have depth. It's vandy. Calm down.

Calm down? I’m having a blast. I could give a shyt about somebody going down. No excuses. Nobody cared when our guys went down. Or when our best tackler got thrown out. Part of the game. How did that guy going down impact us scoring 34 points in a little more than a half? That’s practically a 70 point pace. Are you kidding me?
