I've been a fan since the late 50s so I'll give you a few of the hundreds of reasons I love them both . My dad and especially my mom loved the gators. She never missed a game and would scream and beat on the person sitting In front of her she taught me how to act a game ! I was there to help give them energy .As a kid my mom would drop my friend and I off at the stadium on game day and we would go to see Norm Carlson he would give us donuts and was so nice ! He understood the kids of today are the ticket buyers of tommorow . The gators have given my children and I so many wonderful memories 52 20 over half ass u . Doering's
got a touchdown and on and on . . I love the University of Florida because it gave me the opportunity to become a Elementary School teacher for 35 years .A job that I woke up happy to go to everyday ! What are your reasons? Go gators !

You've got the O & B blood, no doubt. My family moved from Ohio to Florida in 1959 when I was 7. I started listening to Gator football games on the radio and got hooked. Then in 1968 my Dad took a job as Asst. Director of the Printing Division at UF and within a couple of years was named the Director. My Mom, also, started working at UF, first in the Physical Plant as a bookkeeper, then moved to Tigert Hall to work in Admissions. Both my parents retired from UF. I got my Bachelor's degree from Florida in 1973. I met and married my wife in 1975. Her mother had graduated from P.K. Yonge HS in Gainesville and my wife was born in Gainesville. Her youngest brother went to UF and graduated from the UF Medical School. Our daughter attended UF, graduating in 2002. She now works at UF, as does her husband. I love the University of Florida and follow ALL their athletic programs year 'round. It's great to be a Florida Gator!!

OCALA, my aunt worked at printing for many years. I bet she knew your dad. I probably met him once. She talked about her boss. YOU have many connections like me. Mom, dad grandmother daughter.

Loving the gators isn't the same as loving the University

Very true. And there are a lot on here that love both, and a lot that not one fvkk is given for anything but football. Love ‘em all!

I guess it's because I drove all night to watch a sophomore QB play the 2nd game of a double header in Jackson MS back in '64. Then up & moved my family from Seminole to Alachua after living in a pop-up camper for 9 months while trying to sell my house. Spent 10 years in Alachua County, member of FGTC from 1980 to 2002, been going to FL/GA since 1965 off and on, mostly on. Other than that, no reason...

I guess this thread didn't go the way Gern planned.

Well, no offense to Gern (he doesn’t need anymore) but this topic, while close to the heart for all of us, is probably rehashed once or twice a year. Sometimes I just don’t feel like typing out that I went to my first Gator game with my daddy in 1970 and it’s been all O&B ever since.

I briefly considered FSU or UGA but it turns out that I was ineligible for either of those schools due to my parents being married to each other. So off to Gainesville I went.

Interesting timing. I will be in Florida this weekend (Amelia Island) to attend the wedding of my eldest nephew who graduated from the College of Engineering at THE University of Florida. Gator. Son of my younger brother who graduated from THE University of Florida. Gator. Married to a girl he met while marching in THE University of Florida Band. Gators. Going with my bride whom I met at the THE University of Florida in the old Hume Hall. Gators. The school I knew I would attend since I was 4 because my mom's brother came back from carrying a M2 Carbine across Europe with Patton's 3rd Army and went to THE University of Florida on the GI Bill. Gator. Who, by the way, endowed a chair at the College of Agriculture. Inspired by my oldest cousin to be an engineer because he and his wife went to THE University of Florida and he got his BS and MS in ME there. Two Gators. I think you see the theme here. Go Gators. In all kinds of weather. There is no other name so glorious. All Hail.

Well I guess it ain't all love for me.

First, I love the Gators. The Alumni are everywhere and very proud.

But when I was in School, I absolutely hated Anderson Hall, Tigert Hall, and UPD (Parking)

UF was Fairly Liberal when I was there but now they are over the top. I find the attitude almost elitist…Ivy League.

I have a Niece that went to Auburn over UF because the Administration was so bad. A Florida Resident, with unreal test scores, grades, and a Full Navy Scholarship. UF would not accept her until her money cleared…After classes would have started

She is/was at the Pentagon…Go Figure.

My company had to go to UGA for research studies over UF because the Administration was so difficult to work with. It makes me sad.
