If we go 11-1, we'll be in Atlanta. UK probably loses this week at Missouri, and probably loses to UGA.

Regardless, I'll say the same thing now that I said during the '15 and '16 seasons. Getting to Atlanta and having at least a chance to win the championship on the field is better than not getting there at all. If we get killed, so be it. That'll put us in the same company as just about every other team Bama will play this year. But in the end, at least we'll have won enough games to make it there a year after going 4-7.
Heck yeah!!! Better to be there. Lets see how bama does rest of season. Most of us realize that most days we are not on their level yet but who knows. That's why they play the game.

We’re light years better.
UGA is exactly one game worse.
UK is light years better.
UT is slightly better.
Mizzou is better.
Vandy is Vandy.
Cawks suck.

UGA is worse than last year, lost all that upperclassman talent and leadership and it has shown.
UK is better, but not light years... They will still be around a four loss team going into the bowl season (difference being wins against US and a bad MSU team)
UT is still a dumpster fire, only "quality" win is against a extremely questionable Auburn team
Mizzou is better, but not a good team
Agree on Vandy and Cawks

When we are schit we complain about the division, but the division hasn't improved that much from last year (or the previous years). The West has obviously gotten worse LSU being the second best team great talent with horrible coaching. Mullen might be the second best coach in the SEC.

To the OP: if we're 11-1 that means we beat UGAly and if UK goes to the SECCG that means they beat UGAly and Mizzou. I don't see them beating both.

I want us to control what we can control, and that means 11-1. We can't beat either of those teams FOR Kentucky...they have to do it themselves.

Regarding some of the other comments, does anyone seriously think it's advantageous for us to NOT play in the SECCG? Of course it's advantageous. It means we win games and compete for the conference title. Can't win the SEC if we don't play in the championship.

Morons.

This Alabama team might be the best team I have ever seen in College Football. It is early and we will see how they do as the season moves forward, but I honestly don't care if we play them or not in Atlanta. It would be interesting (assuming we beat UGA) to see how we compare against this team, but I also think it is possible we get completely blown out.

1995 Nebraska would like a word with you about this. They averaged 53.16 points per game, while allowing only 14.5 points per game. With that said, let me go throw up.

I think that Nebraska team might have been able to beat just about all National Champions since, and most of those games would be blow outs.

So what? Gives us something to build on and get motivated for.

I think we've been down so long the idea of taking a loss we could avoid appeals to some fans more than the slim potential of a historic win. I understand that mentality, Lord knows our Gators have been putrid - but I'll take a chance at history any chance our boys get it. Wasn't 96 a bit sweeter because of the disaster at the end of 95? For me it was.

I think Alabama could blow us out, but we could also pull off the win. I think it would be a close game as long as we stay turn over free. I prefer to go to Atlanta, but would hope for a good showing, that will get recruits especially early signing period recruits energized.

We definitely don't have the roster to beat Alabama yet. I'd prefer to not be in the SEC title game, make it to a good bowl game and end the season with good momentum heading into next year.
I kind of agree with you, esp since KY has NEVER made it to the SECCG. If they do, that would leave Vandy as the only East team to have never made it (and, realistically, they never will). I think every West team, including TAMU, has, at least once. Unless Ole Miss never has, but I think they did . . . once.

As for not having to play the Bama juggernaut, yes, I'd rather not be embarrassed by them. We can beat the Puppies, finish 11-1, not play for the SEC title, and still get a good "New Years' Six" bowl (Sugar? Peach?). On the flip side, it would be somewhat frustrating to have gone 11-1 and not played for the SEC title, but that's life. Finishing 11-1 will not just help recruiting, it would set us up as a true contender in 2019.

Is there any part of you that would like to go 11-1 and let KY have the east?

I know that sounds weak and it probably is, but I fear we just don't have the roster to play with Bama...yet.

Probably moot. I can't see KY winning out.

Fwiw, I hate Alabama with a passion that burns as bright as the sun. My in-laws are Tide people. They were insufferable before Saban. You can imagine what it's been like since '09.

Last time I saw Dusty Rhodes live was in Jax and he had a Texas chain fence match against the Missouri Mauler.
He got tossed out of the ring with his head under the apron and I caught him cutting his forehead under the mat so when he came up he was all bloody.

IMO... 2001 Miami is the best college football team in history, 1995 Nebraska is #2.

That Miami teams had the best NFL talent (especially on defense), but I would say that didn't function as a complete team that Nebraska team did. The game would be close. Don't know if Miami could stop that option, consistently, or give Nebraska could stop Miami's pro running game and play action pass.
