Coach should have told him to stop that crap after the first score ! Ever since spurrier left Foley and Zook , Meyer , muschump and shark boy have made it us vs the fans . Mullen is the first coach that shows fans the love they deserve . Mullen was wrong to criticize the size of the crowd after the garbage performance of mizzu , but he corrected the damage after the South Carolina game . Franks is a punk and he probably will always be a punk like delrio . If he had run the ball like he did vs South Carolina every game and played with that kind of fire he wouldn't have gotten the criticism he deserved . That being said you don't boo college kids ! You can boo Millionaire coaches but not student athletes !
There's no way to distinguish between the two. It's why it's probably better to just not boo. If nothing else, it's a bad look for recruits looking on.
Fans booed in the late 90's because of the dropoff after the DW years. It was just a different time. I'm certain that if Doug Johnson, and even Grossman, had played during the social media era, where random people can say whatever they want and constantly call you out on Twitter, there would've been a situation at some point.
I'd also disagree that Franks hasn't played with fire. The effort has been there, with maybe a handful of moments being the exception. He isn't playing very well, but that's not because he's not trying. I'll repeat again, he is a RSSoph, who was always thought to be a project, and is about 3/4 of the way through his first year of actual coaching. The problem is, he isn't taking over after a great stretch where fans are willing to patiently wait for the QB situation to works itself out. We're sitting on a decade of disastrous play and horrible losses. In many respects, whoever took the HC job and whoever got the starting nod at QB, they were going to be paying for some of the sins of their predecessors.
