When I was with the media a thousand years ago, the deciding line on privacy was whether the person in question was a public figure.

This one isn't a privacy question, but I think it's similar enough. The starting quarterback for Florida is a public figure. That means he can be subject to public displays of scrutinity, which include booing as well as cheering.

Personally, I don't boo college athletes,. I just criticize the hell out of them.

Really, would you hold the starting quarterback at our local highschool to the same standard.

So you would boo an American Olympian on foreign soil?
Look 78 long before this issue arose our rivals mainly fsu and ga. have been pushing the they don't care about the players at fla, They don't spend money on the players at fla, They won't play a white QB at fla, all bullcrap, but this just plays right into our rivals narrative. Nothing good can come of impowering the few thousand a$$holes that boo one player.

It's as if you're trying to bait me. Reread my last post. I said semi-pro. The monetary value of a full ride is rather large. These kids hold press conferences to announce which school they're signing with. They showboat in front of a stadium full of people. They enjoy the adoration of fans and media alike. They're here to transition to the NFL more than a career as a dentist or accountant.

Then, to boot, they're all over Twitter once they arrive. They put themselves in a position to be criticized.

It needs to be a two-way street.

College, yes. The other examples, no.

What do you expect when he tells his own fans "**** you " if he had played with this effort and heart all year he wouldn't have been criticized or booed but this is the first game he has done so .

I suspect you are a troll, so I'm probably Taking the bait here, but if not, have you been actually watching the games? Early in the year he had some success, mainly by mostly passing behind the line of scrimmage. As the year progressed they let him air it out downfield more with mixed results at best. This last game he went back to throwing it behind the line.of scrimmage, with some running plays plus a robust running game. I don't think heart had anything to do with it. It was a game plan he could execute.

Reading defenses and making progressions or simply hitting a moving receiver downfield has nothing to do with heart.

I agree the game plan worked in FFSs favor; but did he play with more fire due to all the criticism he was getting?
Yes, yes he did.
And I think some of his teammates did too, including the O-Line and Toney, who actually lowered his shoulder a couple of times.

Interesting aside: Tua, who is being showered with praise, took 21 throws to get 164 yds with one TD and one INT. Franks, who is being skewered by UF fans, got 160 on just 17 throws with one TD, two rushing TDs. Too bad he didn't throw downfield or have Bama fans to root for him. But I get it, booing affects our players and team, but is (miraculously) ignored by recruits who also don't pick up from the players that they are angry. Somebody look up Franks vs MSU.

I guess what I'm fishing for, is there any way that this is not a negative for our rebuild. These kids can do all the things you listed and not get booed at home games at 95% of the schools out there.
Also should we let the last 10 years change who we are as a fanbase? I should think not. Essentially 3 to 5 thousand fans booed him loudly 60 thousand didn't at all, we b!tched and moaned among ourselves. I just hate to see that segment of the fanbase be impowered by the media or any other form of social media and fear what it may turn into.

Sure, but his lack of fire isn't why he wasn't completing downfield passes.

It probably makes sense to run him more. He isn't a particularly gifted runner but he's big enough to get some yards here and there and keep the Ds guessing, plus getting pounded and pounding others can build, confidence and serve as a distraction from worrying about you other inadequacies.

The guy just isn't terribly bright. Love the win, but his constant punk-ass antics really annoyed me.

You're the quarterback of the Florida Gators. Grow up.

Discuss.

Late to this thread and not going to read 20 pages ... so ... I am hesitant to say this as it might have been said already ... but ... if they are booing him then he really isn't taunting fans. He didn't win the game nor did he lose the game but he was part of the team that won the game. I wish people would stop singling him out when it is pretty obvious that our D has taken a huge slide in the wrong direction over the last 4 games.

When I first saw him do it I was shocked. Shocked I say! My very first thought was, Well I guess those anger management classes didn’t take with him.
