Ronnie Montgomery, Great Gator Point Guard, has died

Well dahm. Getting close-ish to as far back as I have personal memories of Gator basketball. Ronnie Montgomery was a very important part of those teams that broke into the NCAA tourney for the 1st time, and then again. Back then we had season tickets, saw a lot of games.

Spring ball: Spring Scrimmage on Saturday

I had the sense that the Defenses may have been more effective in the second half. But very hard to tell. The announcers talked a little about defensive players, but never about defensive PLAYS, except for the INTs. And of course the touch rules for QBs have an effect, both ways. Lagway would...

What a shame: ETN arrested for DUI

This is SO EFF"ING STUPID .,, because ETN of all people has the money to just hire a professional driver to keep him safe when he wants to go out drinking & partying. 99% chance that Kirby has a bail bondsman on retainer, sitting in the parking lot of the county central booking office, every...

Gator Basketball ***Official Game Thread BBALL*** SEC Tourney - UF vs AU

I don't care how many SEC refs there are vs how many games, the league should not have brought in supplemental refs for the tourney who had never in their lives worked a game outside of the Alabama Correctional Institutions League. That was brutal. Proud of our team though.

For his mental well-being, you might want to let your dog Tater choose a new name. Cuz the beatings will not stop until morale improves. ("The dog formerly known as Tater" would not be a good choice.)

Dartmouth "College" basketball team joins a union

Dartmouth is in the Ivy League .... there are no athletic scholarships. The school does have a fabulous needs-blind admission policy and funding for those who need financial help. IIRC, it's entirely grants or p/t work ... no loans whatsoever. ALSO ... MODS wake up ... it's Dartmouth COLLEGE...

Indeed. Haugh was moving his feet like a wild man, and Condo was his sneaky best in that stretch. But great play all around. An 21-2 run does not happen every day. WOW. Go Gators. You can win this tournament.

40 of 46 at the free throw line and only 9 turnovers (on a ton of possessions) will win most games. Fun to watch. Zero turnovers for Pullin.

Well OK if we're cashing out. I'd prefer a check sent to my house, But if you're just going to take the money to fund a party ... use my share to buy some bang-bang shrimp.

Betting against the Gators under any circumstances is unacceptible. You've turned to the dark side.

Not asinine at all. If the schools paid the players, Title 9 would kick in. And compliance with that law would (probably) require all the NIL money to put put into a big pot, and every (?scholarship) player in every sport would get the same per capita payout. SuperStars and benchwarmers would...

2024 Spring Game - Saturday instead of Thursday

I certainly hope that Lagway becomes a superstar. His highlights and stats are very impressive. In interviews he seems very mature, intelligent, assured. (Of course, there are no 320lb defensive linemen charging in during interviews.) But if true freshman Lagway becomes the starter in 2024...

This is all the evidence one could ever need that evalauting coaches purely by their win-loss record is easy arithmetic but hazardous as an evaluation/decision-making process.

With only two teams still playing in the 2023/2024 college football season, the transfer portal for assistant college football coaches is now wide open. Will CBN seek to please the fractious fans with some changes in his quota of on-field coaches, or will he stick to his prior decisions and...

150 years of college football ... what classifies as "creativity" these days? Would we even recognize it? I just want to see really solid offensive line play. Guys who can slide sideways well and push people out of the way. With a solid offensive line, everything else is possible. You can...

And yet ... the stats say there's not much difference. ETN made more flashy plays that stick in the mind, Johnson leans more towards consistently effective. Both playing with same OL. ENT a distinct liability on passing plays .. that's 50% of the plays, more or less. With a stronger OL, that...
