Nick Saban retires, replaced with DeBoer; elite players fleeing by the hour

Not sure if it's on another thread, but looks like UW hired Fisch away from AZ. It's so frustrating to see competent programs execute quick hires of coaches w/ quality wins and D1 experience, like 'Bama and UW have just done. Meanwhile all of our last 4 hires have taken so long they could have...

UF Coaching Thread: Russ Callaway promoted to Co-OC

Too bad these stat ranks aren't x/100 scores - then we'd be doing pretty well. And the ones we did "poorly" at would more than be made up for with categories we got extra credit in (like scoring 129/100 in Opp 3rd Dn Conv %). Said another way, we went from bad to mediocre on some lines, but...

UF Coaching Thread: Russ Callaway promoted to Co-OC

In 100 years, from 1910 - 2010, we had 80% non-losing seasons... In 50 years, from 1960-2010, (an epoch which covers the majority of present day fans) we had 92(!)% non-losing seasons... Now, from 2011 - Present, we've had nearly 40% LOSING seasons. It's easy to see something has majorly...

UF Coaching Thread: Russ Callaway promoted to Co-OC

Sad but true. His tenure is over, but he'll still get one more year to cement his legacy of incompetence. I really wanted him to succeed, but it's painfully obvious at this point that he has no chance. He's demonstrated game management skills that are inferior to most 12 year olds who played...

Game Thread ***OFFICIAL GAME THREAD: UF vs Vanderbilt*** ETN likely out

Well, back in '05 it got pretty electric at the very end. Granted, at least 50% of the stadium had cleared out when we were up by 14 with only a few minutes left in the game. But then Vandy scored 2 TDs in the final 2 minutes and sent it to OT. The stadium was as rocking as ever in that OT. I...

Game Thread ***OFFICIAL GAME THREAD: UF vs Tennessee***

Yeah, I haven't been in ages, but used to park anywhere along Mowry. It was free and an easy enough walk to the stadium. I know in recent(ish) years they've built that area up a lot, so not sure if that's still feasible to park on the grass there or not...

SOURCE: Reiterates UF is NOT firing Dan Mullen

Mullen first UF coach: EVER: to give up 42 points in a half Since: 1936 to lose to UK and USCe in same season Since: 1979 to lose to UK @home Since: 1986 to lose to UK away Since: 1986 to win only 2 SEC games in a season What am I forgetting?

    Who should Mullen's replacement be?

Les Miles too then Edit: My brain read that "Butch Davis"

***OFFICIAL GAME THREAD: UF vs Alabama***

The thinking is you kick deep, hold them to 3 and out, then with an average punt/return you have about 30-40 yards to go to get into FG range (if you have a kicker). Vs if you don't recover onside (statistically highly likely), and then a 3 and out punt could easily pin you inside the 10, in...

***OFFICIAL SECCG THREAD: UF vs. TidePods***

Same as I felt after the LSU game. This team has glaring deficiencies most notably in how it's managed and coached. At this point whatever the players do on the field strategically reflects on Mullen - and if it's something he doesn't agree w/ then he should be like Saban, and let them know so...

Kick Marco Wilson off the team

To play devil's advocate... The shoe came off in his hands rather naturally during the action of the tackle. In the heat of the moment (you just made a big tackle, and then you look down and you're holding... A SHOE?) - what do you do? Considerately locate the owner and hand it to them? I mean...

***OFFICIAL GAME THREAD: UF vs Corn Dogs***

For me, it boils down to... Too many bad decisions by CDM (not kicking FG on first drive and/or the play they called on 4th after electing to go for it, play selection on all those 2nd half 3-and-outs, and play selection on last series of 1H that KT fumbled - to name a few) Too many missed/bad...

    Dan Mullen

Exactly. I could pick a few things I hated. EJ coming in 2nd drive of Q3 is the easiest to hate in hindsight. But I understand why it was done. Also, some of the other EJ cameos seemed to throw Trask off a bit. Although, on that INT Cleveland was basically ridden like a horse the whole route...

Can Franks hold on to the Number 1 QB spot?

Not exactly apples to apples. Miami lost 3 DB starters from the unit which put up those stats (Redwine, Johnson, and Jackson), not to mention their team leader in INT's - Dean (who played in all 13 games). So, this is a strawman stat line comparison.

Can Franks hold on to the Number 1 QB spot?

Well I don't really think I hold him to a higher standard. If anything, personally, I think I've given him more leeway trying to make sure I'm as objective as possible. I feel like I've lowered the bar of what I would hope a UF QB would be in order to maybe find a way to be content with Franks...

Can Franks hold on to the Number 1 QB spot?

I understand your points of view, but I see it the opposite way. A lot of the problem with the run game has to do with Franks. Miami often played riskier in coverage (and on one occasion got burned) to stop the run. It was the smart plan and almost worked. Miami highlighted our weakest point...

Can Franks hold on to the Number 1 QB spot?

Watching Franks play QB is beyond frustrating. Despite all of the sloppiness and shortcomings of the team as a whole last night, I can honestly say I feel like it could be an exciting, fun, and possibly even very high win season – if not for Franks. There’s no doubting he is physically gifted...
