I thought I heard them say this was the first time in 8 years that no Florida high school kid went in the first round of the draft.

Bears are the new Browns!
Fixed it for you.

As a Bears fan I am at the point where it is hard to really care. The management of this team is beyond bad. They signed a career backup to a 40 million dollar contract and then traded 4 picks for an average QB who would be third round in any average class.

Looking at how that slotting system controls the pay for rookies now you take a pretty big hit for just missing the 1st round and being the top pick of the 2nd round (losing about 1.2 million in signing bonus, roughly 4.2 million down to 3 million, and about 1.6 million in total contract value).

Also thinking of what could happen to Brantley possibly - just going from mid 2nd round to mid 3rd round costs a player close to 1.2 million in signing bonus (1.9 million signing bonus down to 750K or so) and about 1.9 million in total contract value.

To move up ONE SPOT. Which means they fell for the total bluff from the 49ers that they were about to take their guy.

OR they were in a bidding war with another team who wanted to move to #2 and take Trubisky. Either way, it's a reach.

Then the other team are a bunch of dumbasses too.
They could have stayed at 3 and still gotten a QB at least as good as him and kept all they gave up.
Horrible, horrible trade.

Obviously, the Bears thought he was head and shoulders better than the other QB's. I guess time will tell.
