I was trying to maintain this in a different thread but wanted to keep it somewhere where it would be the OP.

Jarez Parks was all Gator then became a Bama lean on the fall, However with bama's class filling he has scheduled an OV with us at the last minute. He may see the bama window closing as that class is already at 26.

I wonder if we can pull a # 5 SEC class or not. It will be very tough it appears.

Good thread, Threat. Recruiting doesn't look so bad when put this way.

Nice post. I think my biggest question mark would be the idea that UF wants/needs 2 TEs in this class. I know UF has to purported TEs, but I am not quite sure that is the plan. Also UF has 3 early enrollees, I think so maybe this group could go to 28.

Another way to look at it is:

Postion(need)

QB(1): Allen
RB(1): Davis
WR(3): Green, Toney
TE(1): Byrd, Gamble
OL(4): Moore, Telford
K(0):
DL(5): Campbell, Carter
LB(5): Houston, Miller
DB(5): Blades, Davis, Wilson
P(0):
with 3 possible wild cards and one already used at TE.

The board:

QB:
RB: Lemons, Thompson
WR: Robinson, Ruggs
TE:
OL: Chandler, Gray, Herbert, Randolf, Slaton, Zabie
K:
DL: Bryant, Durden, Jackson, Parks, Ray, Solomon, Truesdell
LB: Johnson, Jones
DB: Bishop, Edwards, Gibbs, Henderson, Hunter, Stewart
P:

This is a very preliminary board and I have probably omitted many players UF is still recruiting.

I agree doesn't look as bad when you see it this way. The DL and LB slots I would love to see fill up with more. 2- OLmen is good but think we need at least 2 more there. I'm sure some of these guys' * status will bump up a bit near NSD. But like I said in another post. Mac really needs to get FL under control as his back yard, then worry about other states.

Outstanding post-work Threat. Appreciate it. You've produced a neutral post that reveals positives.

We need 3 more DT's and only have 4 on the board. That's what I call a disaster

So Solomon is visiting on the 27th. Signing him would be Mac's greatest get ever. Don't see it happening, unfortunately.

I think we'll get the numbers if we want. They'll just be lower tier guys that we don't even know they are looking at, unless the momentum starts picking up soon

I read tha Mac signed his last 15 in the final two weeks before NSD last year so. based on the 20 quality bodies we've got for at least 10 spots we could end better then we hoped.
Don't point out the obvious otherwise people will start complaining. I miss the days when folks moaned that NSD was boring because all our recruiting was wrapped up a week prior.

Obvious? It's false. Mac signed two kids after xmas last year.

First of all UF's staff signed the VAST MAJORITY of its class last year on national signing day as is the case every year. And yes you must keep recruiting your guys who have committed to get them to sign on national signing day.
That said, it appears to be correct that last year UF had the biggest part of its class signed or committed by the new year. Every year in recruiting is different. I am sure UF will round out this class. I am sure the glass half full crowd will have some good Jan/Feb commitments to point to and I am sure the glass half empty crowd will have some reaches to point to.

The real question is where this class roughly ends up overall. And the key word there is roughly. as the 8th class is probably better than the 15th class and worse than the 2nd class, but it is a much harder to know if UTn's class ranked one or two above UF would be better for UF or not.

I hear you. The signed vs committed thing is just splitting hairs. I think most LOI's come in on or near NSD. Mac got two commits after Xmas last year was the point I was making. Hopefully, he closes better this year than last.

The staff has been targeting 3 all year... that has been the plan. If they get 3 they hit their goal. Getting 4 in one class would be tough.. I think they want 3 this year then 3 next year then 2 ever following year.

Yeah, seems ridiculous to me
