Grabbed a second bottle of MWND today
I could probably find a 3rd bottle tbh. I was on a waitlist and when I picked it up, they didn't ask my name. I did just find some more Beam 8 y/o, so that was cool too. Hope to get a WLW soon, but I'm cautiously optimistic on that one.
Only the finest at a cool $18/ bottle
I usually aim for the +/- 30 dollar range for my bourbons. I typically prefer rye, so you can't go wrong with some I've already seen mentioned. Most of these have great flavor for the price. Bulleit Rye George Dickel Russels Mitchers Elijah Craig
That’s the great thing about bourbon, there are some fantastic pours out there for $30ish. Elijah Craig was one of my gateway bourbons!
Henry McKenna 10yr single barrel and Eagle Rare may be the best $30 bourbons out there now.
Yep can’t go wrong there
Pick up a bottle of Jefferson's Reserve Very Old to enjoy this holiday season. Oh... and some Mount Gay XO rum. Oh... and some Chopin Vodka.
you in G'ville at all? Dorn's has a couple Jefferson products for cheap.
I do love some Elijah for sure. I was just given a fifth of W.L. Weller special reserve. Not sure what the price point is ( could be cheap as hell for all I know) but I had some this evening and it was mighty tasty!
It’s pretty cheap but lots of people like it. I’m a big fan of their other offerings...Weller 12 year and Old Weller Antique but those can be hard to find. Myself, I had to suffer through the wife’s company Christmas party where we got 2 drink tickets for 1 oz pours of Crown and Jack Daniels Single Barrel. Flasks are your friend.
With those offerings, I would assume you use the term "party" very, very loosely. Agree on the Weller 12 year, never had the Antique, is there a big difference?
Antique is a higher proof but I think is around 6-7 years old. I prefer the 12 because I like a lot of oak influence. Some people like the antique better because of the extra proof.
The Special Reserve is around $22. Antique is around $26, and 12 yr is around $30. If you can find them. SR is just a nice little entry wheater. It is superior to maker’s in my opinion. The Antique is the same proof (107) as the Van Winkle 10 I think. Because of proof, it has some more robust flavors, but sharper edges. A lot of people love the antique. The 12yo, is just a great well rounded bourbon. Some say it’s a bit woody on their palette. I’ve seen some blind tastings between Van Winkle 12 and Weller 12 and Weller wins a lot of the time. People also like to blend the 12yo and the antique to make a Pappy imitation. The nice part of the Weller as a gift is that even the SR greens are rare to find. So someone probably put some effort into getting you that. On a side note, i’m close to getting a William Larue Weller BTAC if it doesn’t fall thru, but my chances on a Stagg Sr appear to be slipping
Got a BTAC Weller and a 2016 Elijah Craig Barrel Proof this week
Very nice! Enjoy man! I always have a really nice pour on Christmas Eve after the kids go to bed and all of the presents are under the tree. Tonight it’s WLW and it’s so good.
Thanks, no telling when it’ll get cracked. Enjoy your pour. I understand some believe WLW is better than Pappy
I’d take it any day over pappy.
Found out recently that they are still distributing Booker’s Rye and I missed out on a bottle.
