I listened to Mullen's press conference yesterday, and this part stuck out:

"Even discipline factors - a guy is thinking 'hey, I've got opportunities to play in a game, you know I better make sure I'm going to class, I better make sure I'm taking care of my business so that when I have my opportunity I'm ready to take advantage of it because that's the reward'."

I'll bet you ten bucks he was talking about Brad Stewart there - he didn't go to class. Hence, it isn't really a suspension, he just doesn't get to play because he didn't take care of the academics. It also jibes with this:

Out for the season? wtf

He should be gone. Just go sign a kid.

Wtf, dont we "have people" who monitor this stuff. Bammer always has several people for every imaginable task.

I don't know why it says that but I doubt he's out for the season. He was suited up, for God's sake. My take is just a theory but I'll bet I'm right.

If it's academics and is out for the season he either was in trouble from last year or perhaps got caught cheating or plagerizing.

If the reporting that Stewart missed the game because of eligibility issues there really are only two possibilities and only one is indirectly related to attending class. These two possibilities are:

1. Stewart took an extra benefit.

2. Stewart did not make progress toward graduation possibly failing a class.

If it is 2 above, it is very odd to me that this has come up in the middle of a semester. The only thing I can think of is that Stewart had an incomplete he had to finish up, the deadline was last week and he failed to complete the class. Thus his incomplete turned into an F and that caused him to fall below the progress toward a degree? Again this seems unlikely to me as incompletes usually is treated as an F until made up.

So maybe the reports that this was an eligibility issue are wrong (fake news if you like).

If he dropped below the minimum number of credits to stay eligible for the rest of the semester, he wouldn't be eligible to play. That would require him dropping a class because he was failing miserably due to non-attendance or something along those lines.

Good point, this is another way it could be an eligibility issue. If this is the case, then I wonder why he would drop a course even if failing. He could have played the rest of the season and then dropped missed the bowl game and made up needed credits and quality points in the off season. Perhaps he just did not understand the rules?

I've said this before,

I'd like Mullen to hire someone like Tebow...He would be my choice...Call him Off Field Coordinator… PAY HIM $$$$$$

He could help coordinate S&C, monitor off season work-outs, and deal with Off-Field issues.

We potentially lose more games to this @$^&.

We have lost TWO Heisman QBs.

We lost 10% of the team last year.

Tebow is not coming to work for the Gators. For a variety of reasons. Which I really don’t think I need to list as the reasons are way too obvious.

Isn't that what Vernell Brown was hired to do?

Brandon Spikes available. I think he could do the job of making sure they go to class.

Do you think that:

1. UF does not have anyone informing players of what they can and can't do?

2. UF does not monitor the behavior of players to the extent it is possible?

It is just not possible to monitor players around the clock. It just is not possible to get everyone to make good decision all the time.

I remember my ACC Undergrad university had a BB player who was a future lottery pick that was an extreme dumbazz. He was picked up from his dorm in the morning by AA interns and escorted to class and never left alone during the day until he was dropped back off late at night. His exams and homework were completed and delivered to his dorm by undergrad student tutors. Literally slid under his dorm door. We got two years and a lot of wins out of him.
