I think it is a combination of both. Nuss was run out by Saban to get kiffen. What mac and Nuss are trying to run is what Bama ran in 2009. Even Saban new he had to evolve to keep up with Meyer.

This isn't true. It is well known why he left. Coaches have bailed on Saban for years. He's lost a number of coaches at bama that left for the exact same position elsewhere. He may be a great coach, but he's a grade A scumbag.
