Yawn. We should just continue to lay down and let our "friends" take advantage of us at every turn like they have for decades.

What we are doing is getting respect back. Nobody respects anyone who allows themselves to be taken advantage of, we have done that with trade, foreign policy and immigration.

Harsh reality is coming hard and fast for the ungrateful "allies" ......They have to find another sponge to support the terrorist who are ruining their countries AND pay their own UN dues.......
Most of them are about as loyal and grateful as the French were about 2 to 3 weeks after WWII. A vet who was there told me that once things returned to business as usual GI's were served on dirty tablecloths when entering restaurants and generally given the cold shoulder since they were no longer needed....

Thats because instead of lining up the Vichies with the Nazis and giving them the summary executions they deserved, we left them in power.

Its kind of been that way all along. The rest of the world has been more than happy to take advantage of our largesse for almost 100 years. Now that we are starting to demand an equal playing field and a fair trade balance the rest of the world is squealing. Are you happy with how much of our tax payer money has been spent protecting the rest of the world and how the rest of the world thought it was A-OK to put heavy tariffs and regulatory roadblocks on our products and steal our technology? Because they've been playing us for a stooge for a looooong time. And because we were a wealthy and generous nation we let it happen. Well things change. The world has changed. Time for them to ante up.

The World Trade Organization (WTO) tracks how many imports face tariffs of more than 15 percent, and on this metric, the United States looks better than its peers. According to the WTO, 7.1 percent of Canadian imports face these high tariffs, 4.1 percent of imports to the E.U. face them and 2.8 percent of imports to the United States are hit with high tariffs.

                Who cares?

If the property were cheap enough, many of the Canadians might have gone back home.

                    Isolationism at its finest.

Who needs allies when we have ourselves? All of these countries fought side by side with us after 9/11.

                    And there’s this:

                    And this:

                    And this:

So, indicators and metrics that everyone agreed were spot on show that tariffs aren’t the problem. Prices go up for everyone.

Is this what we consider a win now?

The UN has been freeloading on Americans long enough.

The security counsel is a complete sham, my tax money foots the bill for everything.....all the while obstructing nearly every policy that doesn't advance leftist agendas....

To borrow a phrase from the left, "It's time they (other countries) paid their fair share."

The United States, even with all of it's flaws, is still the best nation on the planet. It's time we started acting like it and quit taking crap from these countries who wouldn't exist without us.

My parents visited Normandy a couple of years ago. While trying to return their rental car - they couldn’t find anyone at the company’s office - they happened across a group of D-Day re-enactors, French men dressed as US GI’s. When the re-enactors realized they were American, they got excited, wanted to take pictures and helped them sort out their problem.

I’m all for negotiating better trade deals and getting our allies to cover their fair share of defense costs, but I tend to hear many more stories like that. Parisians are famously rude, but the folks in the rest of the country are much more hospitable and thankful for our sacrifices.

Maybe but that percentage of the grateful French is very damn low, I suspect.

To further this thought Europeans in general(not all but a high percentage) are very egotistical and standoffish when it comes to America and it's citizens. I spent over 20 years in the culinary industry and worked with and was trained by European Chefs(German, Swiss, French and Austrian) who dominated the field back in the 80's. Many of them were glorified shoemakers that came over and professed to be Godlike to us supposed ignorant Americans in the field....most of them were frauds who were quicker to open a can or dry mixes than some of the upcoming younger American Chefs in the field. When questioned many would comment that American diners were ignorant, lacked the sophistication to know the difference.....

When I reached the position of Executive Chef I had a young French Chef who worked under me for a couple of years. He explained to me that this was engrained in the majority of Europeans back home because they essentially feel inferior to Americans in everyway of life. He literally thought growing up that the majority of Americans lives were like that of the TV show Dallas or they were rich Manhattan stockbrokers. His thoughts were that as a French or European citizen you had to rely on America for any history changing event like WWI, WWII, Berlin Wall and so on....In other words they couldn't wipe their own asses....It's no wonder with that resentment they have moved in such a Socialist direction. Last time I talked to him he had bought a home, married a beautiful American woman and had 2 children, had 2 brand new cars and was never going back to France.....

Question of the day: why is it ok for Trudeau to public state “I will always protect the Canadian workers...” but Trump running on that very statement (for Americans” and actually doing it is racist, nationalist, isolationist...?

Because he’s helping some and hurting others?

Both of these things can be true.
