True. If there's no change in coaches maybe they'll switch up what they're doing (how they train). Who knows?

We have injuries like everyone else, just like we always have.

What we don't have is any depth.

Taggert has put together a great staff. Will be interesting to watch what he does, how he does out there.

I was just about to post this. I can't imagine the coaches turn this down (the 10th assistant). Look for Saban to exploit the sh*t out of this (how he uses the position).

The coaches will give their say on new NCAA proposals today.

Coaches will have a long discussion today at the AFCA Convention about a myriad of issues that will be voted on in April, including early signing periods, a two-year gap between signing a recruit and hiring individuals associated with a recruit, and the addition of a 10th assistant coach. There will be a press conference to share their recommendations on the issues to the NCAA and collegiate commissioners.

Based on my conversations at the convention, there is widespread support for a 10th assistant, which most coaches believe would be an internal promotion or outside hire of a coach out of work, rather than widespread poaching. But there is not much support for a June signing period, nor summer official visits.

The issues will be voted on in April, and most would be effective immediately if they pass. CoachingSearch will have more on these issues in the coming weeks.

“We should all be smart enough to understand that if we don’t get on the same page, whether it’s the oversight committee, the coaches, universities, presidents and AD’s, we’re going to have something that’s going to be taken away from us, because we’re going to screw it up,” Gary Patterson said at the convention. “We need to find a way as a group where we have solutions that benefit everybody.”

This is how a championship coach addresses coaching changes: Head on. There is NO EXCUSE why Nord is still on this staff (Summers as well, although I know some of you love his mediocre-coaching, piss-poor recruiting ass).

Urban Meyer made the changes he hinted were coming.

After getting shut out by Clemson, Meyer hinted there could be offensive staff changes. Meyer brought in former Indiana head coach Kevin Wilson as offensive coordinator / tight ends coach and 49ers quarterbacks coach Ryan Day as co-offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach. Former assistants Tim Beck and Ed Warinner went to Texas and Minnesota, respectively.

It will be interesting to see how Wilson’s and Meyer’s offensive philosophies mesh. Meyer often points to a game in 2001 when he was at Bowling Green and Wilson was Northwestern’s offensive coordinator, as a game that changed his offensive ideas. They also faced off in the 2008 national title game between Florida and Oklahoma, as well as the Ohio State-Indiana battles.

Meyer will also have to answer questions about Wilson’s dismissal at Indiana amid allegations of player mistreatment. But it’s clear he wanted to hire the best offensive mind he could find, and he’ll figure out the rest from there.

"In 2014 we were one of the most balanced teams in college football run/pass," Meyer told USA Today in Nashville. "And we went one dimensional, so we're gonna open things up, let J.T. Barrett play and get the skill guys more involved. Really anxious to open things up a little bit."

I think that we are going to have ZERO additional coaching changes. The only reason we are having a change at DC is because Collins got a head-coaching gig.

South Carolina has tabbed Joshua Lawson as its newest assistant strength & conditioning coach.

    Per an official release:

Joshua Lawson has been named Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach for the University of South Carolina football program, it was announced today. Lawson replaces David Feeley, who was named Head Football Strength & Conditioning Coach at Temple University.

Lawson comes to Columbia after working for the past two seasons as the Director of Strength & Conditioning at Southern University, where he helped the Jaguars football team achieve an eight-game winning streak in the SWAC in 2016 to finish with an 8-3 record overall, including an 8-1 mark in conference play. He also helped the men’s basketball team achieve an appearance in the NCAA Tournament after winning the SWAC postseason title in 2015-16.

Lawson began his professional career as an intern at Appalachian State University under current South Carolina Head Football Strength & Conditioning Coach Jeff Dillman, before serving an internship at LSU under Tommy Moffitt. Lawson remained on staff at LSU as a strength & conditioning graduate assistant for football and swimming & diving. During his stint in Baton Rouge, the Tigers made five bowl appearances, earned an SEC Championship, and appeared in the football national championship game.

South Florida: Former FAU defensive backs coach Corey Bell has joined the USF staff as defensive backs coach, and former Texas offensive line coach Matt Mattox has followed Charlie Strong to USF as offensive line coach / run game coordinator. Bell spent two years at USF. Mattox spent one year at Texas and has spent the past four years with USF offensive coordinator Sterlin Gilbert at four different schools.

Hell no he didn't get forced out. He had 3 consecutive top 20 defenses at Louisville in a conference that actually plays offense too. This is a homerun hire for them. I know most of us don't like the guy due to his time at UGA and the choke thing w/ Chaz Henry, but he's considered a top DC w/ 11 years in the NFL and 6 as a major D1 DC.

Not sure who Louisville hires, but they have the money to bring in a big name (they paid Grantham $1 million/year).

Wait, sources say mac reached out to who before promoting Shannon? Todd Grantham? Because if so I'd say this is just one more in a long line of exhibits of why Mac is a joke. Granthan is a garbage DC and a POS as a man.
