Florida State: Maryland offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Walt Bell is expected to become offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach at Florida State, according to Yahoo Sports’ Pete Thamel. In addition, Oregon assistant athletic director for recruiting operations David Kelly has followed Willie Taggart to Florida State, according to his Twitter account, and Bruce Feldman reports he will coach wide receivers.

Florida International: Graduate assistant Drew Davis has been promoted to tight ends coach as the 10th assistant, and tight ends coach / special teams coordinator James Vollono will focus on special teams. Davis is the son of head coach Butch Davis.

Auburn: UConn offensive line coach J.B. Grimes has joined the Auburn staff as offensive line coach. Grimes was the Auburn offensive line coach from 2013-15.

Alabama: The Tuscaloosa News reports tight ends / special teams coordinator Joe Pannuzio will move to an off-field role, adding that Nick Saban is interested in hiring Hugh Freeze as an on-field coach, but SEC commissioner Greg Sankey isn’t a fan of that. In addition, Louisiana Lafayette defensive coordinator Karl Scott has interviewed for a position on the Alabama staff.

Arizona: Offensive line coach Garin Justice is not expected to be retained, according to Bruce Feldman. Justice joined Arizona from FAU last month. That FAU offensive line job is still open.

LSU: Former LSU running back Kevin Faulk is expected to join the LSU support staff, according to multiple reports. The Advocate reports it is awaiting SEC approval, because Faulk is currently a high school coach in Louisiana, and he would fall under the NCAA’s Individual Associated With a Prospect rule. That rule states that hiring someone with ties to recruits to an off-field job means you can’t recruit those players for two years.

Tennessee: South Carolina assistant director of player personnel Shaq Wilson has joined the Tennessee staff as an assistant strength and conditioning coach, according to his Twitter account.

More nepotism:

UConn: Tight ends coach Corey Edsall has received a new one-year employment agreement that was signed Dec. 28 and began Monday, according to documents obtained by The Athletic in an open records request. In July, the state of Connecticut’s Citizen's Ethics Advisory Board ruled that his hiring and head coach Randy Edsall's help in contract negotiation violated state nepotism laws, but that Corey could keep his job in 2017 if they did not renew the agreement, which expired Sunday. In December, a Superior Court judge issueda stay of conclusions, allowing Corey to continue his job through the appeals process, which is ongoing. As part of the employment agreement, his supervisor is not Randy Edsall, but instead someone designated by the athletic department. Randy Edsall has still yet to sign an official contract a year after becoming UConn head coach, because of this situation, though he has signed a binding letter of agreement. Corey Edsall’s salary remains $95,000.

Alabama: New Louisiana Lafayette defensive coordinator Karl Scott will join the Alabama staff as defensive backs coach, according to AL.com. Scott spent the last two years as Texas Tech defensive backs coach.

Auburn: Buffalo athletic director Allen Greene has officially been named athletic director at Auburn.

Louisiana Lafayette: Former Mississippi State tight ends coach D.J. Looney has been named assistant offensive line coach at Louisiana Lafayette.

Alabama: Penn State wide receivers coach Josh Gattis will join the Alabama staff as a co-offensive coordinator, according to Bruce Feldman.

UTSA: Auburn analyst Al Borges has been named UTSA offensive coordinator. The 62-year-old Borges has been an offensive coordinator at 11 different schools.

Alabama: Wide receivers coach Mike Locksley has been promoted to offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach, according to ESPN’s Chris Low. In addition, Bama Insider reports Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College defensive backs coach Stevon Moore will join Alabama as a defensive analyst.

That's a good get for Bama...not sure if he's ready for co-OC there, though. Guessing Locksley will be calling plays.

@AdamSchefter: New Titans’ HC Mike Vrabel’s offensive coordinator hire is significant, and....Ohio St. co-offensive coordinator Ryan Day is considering becoming the Titans’ OC, according to league sources.

@CameronWolfe: Ryan Day played under Chip Kelly at New Hampshire, then began his coaching career under him at UNH. Kelly hired Day to be his QB coach in PHI, SF. Seems likely to bring back a lot more Oregon college scheme for Marcus Mariota, if hired.

This could help w/ NPF (who's got them in his top 5):

Michigan: 10TV reports new Michigan assistant Ed Warinner has accepted a position with the Tennessee Titans on Mike Vrabel’s staff, but the Columbus Dispatch reports no offer has been made yet. Warinner spent last year as Minnesota offensive line coach and accepted a position at Michigan yesterday.

I'm sure glad he is gone. He could have been a problem for us at LSU.

Good thing that Cajun moron decided he needed some more Les Miles offense.

Wow. Big move. He got a lot of credit for UGA's special teams success the last two years. Glad he's gone from there...

Ohio State: Co-offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Ryan Day has chosen to remain in Columbus and not become the Titans’ offensive coordinator, per Adam Schefter.

Michigan: Safeties coach/special teams coordinator Chris Partridge has signed a 2-year deal worth $500,000 annually and new tight ends coach Sherrone Moore will earn $225,000 and $250,000 over his 2-year deal.

@BruceFeldmanCFB: Urban Meyer has officially promoted Ryan Day to OC at #OhioState. Day as we reported yesterday passed on opportunity to become the Titans OC, and a few months ago passed on the opportunity to become the head coach at Miss State.

Odd move Imo.

Wow, he was offered Miss State and turned it down? This dude must be a big-time rising star. I imagine he's waiting for a big time program to open up, but it's not often the bigger programs are taking coordinators w/ no HC experience (UGA is the only program I can think of recently - as far as "big time" goes). Tom Herman had to spend 2 years at Houston, Frost 2 years at UCF, Morris 3 years at SMU, etc.

As small as the HC candidate pool is right now I'd imagine his chances are a little better than most coordinators.

Anyone else find it extremely odd that Kelly kept FOUR offensive assistants from UCLA's previous staff? You'd think he'd want "his" guys, as an offensive minded coach.
