Defensive line recruiting in Chumps last 3 cycles vs Mac first 3. Looks like the DL has fell off pretty drastically! CoN5onyUsAATkjK.jpg

The problem with comparing by numbers alone, is that Muschamp recruited more defensive players at expense of spots that should have been offensive players.

I know you pulled these from twitter... so not attacking you, but wasn't Clayton a 5*?

Either way... certainly a reason to be concerned from a depth perception and hopefully something that will improve.

Doesn't look good, but this class isn't done yet so it's not an accurate comparison.

Yep there needs to be changes on the defensive side if that doesn't change this recruiting class. That side of the ball doesn't even have that lame excuse that the recruits don't like what they have seen the past few years.

I'm certainly not overwhelmed by what we've done on defensive recruiting so far under Mac, however as someone else pointed out we had a severe imbalance on the offensive side of the ball and that required more drastic action at the beginning of his tenure.....That said we have to start doing better on the defensive side or we'll just be in as bad of shape, especially in this conference.

Not excusing the poor recruiting (because it definitely needs to improve. Big Time.) but this is comparing three full classes under Muschamp to 2 and a half under Mac. Mac also only had ~ 2 months to work on his first class whereas this is including Muschamp's LAST three where he could work the whole cycle. A more fair comparison would come at the END of next years recruiting cycle.

Jarez Parks seems to be shopping around. We cannot lose him. Not even an option. Mac better get on that.

Shouldn't full disclosure faireness set this scene for recruiting = making the UF program a star attraction :

Messedchomp came in on this high tide = residual hype on the Myer-Tebow-Harvin-NC Era plus Messy
was heralded as a great stallion-steal from the HC paddock of the big University of Texas.
Whereas Mac leaked in from HC of little respected CSU, un-vouched-for by large mouthed pundips,
and running in the gutter washout premade by a horrid HC. Praytell, what did Mac have to honestly base
his recruit appeal-spiel on ?? Plus the minus of being named late in that first-year recruiting cycle ?

More honest accountability would be to consider 2017 as his first "that UF HC's" full recruit-cycle for
somewhat-rightful credibility considerations by H.S. seniors and their parents ?

Please -- We got Mac as a penny-stock and he managed a blue-chip first season =
1)
best 1st-year coach W-L,(enduring the worst half season QB setback that could be),
2)
SEC East crown,
3) SEC COY, a voted-in accolade...
... not to mention the logical, natural upward growth of the UF-CFB program's coaches corall and players' of stardom.

Mac is a good investment to stick with. ** The stars will align for us sooner than with another HC... IMO.

Yes. And he's not done recruiting this year. And Jordon Scott will probably be a four-star when all said and done.

Are the numbers vastly different because the last 3 from Muscrap has us at a surplus of defensive players while having no offensive players. If Coach kept adding the number and stars to the defense we would be in 7-3 games still and having lots of great players getting no playing time on d.

Not ready to say Mac hasn't recruited well yet because we were reeling as a program after Chump and Mac hasn't had a full cycle this year. But, a look at the rivals site is sobering at the moment. Of the top 150 recruits this year, UGA currently has 7, Bama has 6, FSU has 5. We have two - Carter and Lemons - neither of whom are in the top fifty. The team has to play above itself and the staff has to recruit like their lives depend on it this year. Can't stand the idea of spending a decade looking up at the Dwags.

But, but, but.... Then Marinara wouldn't be able to stir up $hit about how bad Mac sucks at recruiting D players. That just wouldn't be accurate now, would it?

This is an unfair comparison. I think it would be better to compare Mac's last three years after next year's class and also compare the offensive side of the ball. It's worth noting that Mac had nothing to go on in his first class, which is typically one of the worst classes for new coaches anyways. Wasn't the class ranked around 100 when he took over? That's a pretty big handicap that Muschamp never had.

That said, Mac and Co. certainly need to step up recruiting on that side of the ball. They still have time, but this class MUST address the lack of depth on defense. 2017's defense will be weaker than normal. I don't want that to be true in 2018 too.

Too many are sticking Mac with the subpar ability to develop players that our prior Chumpster fire had.
What if Mac knows how to train more into young players ?

No fair comparing Mac's outputs (results) to Messy's inputs !!!! Ruins the story-line of the Every-Day-It-Rains-A-Lot guys.

Quite a few were off. Morrison was a 3*, Anzalone was a 5*, etc etc.

Another thing I haven't seen discussed is how many of Muschamps guys were complete non factors. Either couldn't crack the lineup or had to transfer.
