Considering Duke's offense has been better than ours lately, I don't think it could hurt to have another capable back-up in the stable.

I think he is more insurance if two guys get hurt. They want to redshirt Allen and I think they already know LDR isn't going to be able to play because of injuries.

Here is the reason to bring this guy or someone in:

1. Del Rio is not a QB for the UF offense.

2. If Trask comes is ahead out of Spring or the Fall there is a real danger Franks tranfers. If Franks come out on top, there is a smaller but real chance that Trask transfers.

3. Toney is not a QB or it is well established these guys want to redshirt true frosh.

That means UF may well head into the Fall with one viable QB. Heck he might be good enough to take the job.

Thus the Duke guy might well be the back up.

I must've missed something. I thought we couldn't take any more graduate transfers because we had a couple idiots that refused to study and make their grades?

As a redshirt freshman at Duke in 2013 Thomas Sirk suffered a ruptured right achilles injury and missed the entire season.

In 2014 the sophomore was the backup QB and was used in short yardage packages as a runner. He led the team with 8 rushing TDs.

In 2015 Sirk was the starting QB. He threw for 2,625 yards, 16 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He also led the team with 803 rushing yards with 8 TDs.

In February 2016 he suffered a ruptured left achilles injury. Then he reinjured it just before the start of the season and missed all of the 2016 season.

Sirk holds the Duke records in most consecutive passes without an interception, most offensive plays in a season, most rushing yards and TDs in a bowl game, and more. He’s also Top 5 in program history in rushing TDs, 100+ rushing yard games for a QB, and winning percentage. He led the Blue Devils to their first bowl victory since 1961 earning Co-MVP honors in the 2015 Pinstripe Bowl after leading a Duke comeback and overtime win.

The 6'4" 220 pound QB was a preseason candidate for the Maxwell Award, Manning Award, Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and Davey O’Brien Award in 2016. In 24 career games (12 starts) he has completed 261-of-441 (.592) passes for 2,692 yards with 19 TDs and eight INTs while rushing 210 times for 1,041 yards (4.96) and 16 TDs. For his career at Duke he was sacked a total of 12 times, good for a sack-to-pass attempt ratio of 1:36.75. He lost a total of 2 fumbles in 999 career snaps.

Sirk compiled 300+ yards of total offense in six career games including a personal-high of 401 (315 pass & 86 rush) against N.C. Central in 2015. He has accounted for multiple TDs in 10 career games including a personal-high four scores against both N.C. Central (2015; 3 pass & 1 rush) and Virginia Tech (2015; 4 pass).

He is one of three players in ACC history to record 800+ rushing yards and 2,500+ passing yards in a single season, joining Clemson’s Deshaun Watson and North Carolina’s Marquise Williams as all three QBs accomplished the feat during the 2015 campaign.

I hope he becomes a Gator. It certainly couldn't hurt to have him use one of our vacant scholarships.

He would be the best on the roster if the young guys aren't developing well. The coaches are probably just nervous and want to make sure we at least have a winning record so there is no chance they get canned after the season.

Franks showed me everything I need to know about him last spring and Trask needs more time to develop. Hopefully we land this dude because if so he starts against Michigan!

Does anyone see Spurrier's handiwork in this? He has an affection for Duke football and may have dropped a suggestion off to Mac.

I'd be ok with this one but would rather see us develop our own qb. He sucks alot less than zaire or brandon Harris.

Trask might transfer and lead Bama to another NC or he could jump straight to the NFL and lead a superbowl champ team.
