First of all, it's not like Jones was the number 1 overall recruit or something. He has to develop.

2nd of all, I would be concerned if Franks and Trask were NOT the center of attention.

Just as I was concerned when people were getting excited about Del Rio and Zaire when they were transferring here. If someone comes in here and starts right away, then that usually means everything you have is garbage. If a freshman QB comes in here and starts beating all of the others out that is usually going to be indicative that your season is screwed.

Best case scenario that I see is that he develops really fast and ends up coming in for some situational snaps and gets more and more of those chances by the season's end (see: Tebow's freshman year). Worst case scenario is that he is the best we have right now.
The difference being that Tebow had a good quarterback ahead of him.

It's too soon to worry about any freshman player, but at least wait until you see how he performs in the spring game before getting worried. That said, this spring game is too soon to make any judgments. Anyone remember how awful Cam Newton was in his first spring game? He was flat out terrible his freshman year here.

The Groupthink was that he might never complete a forward pass.

He still played some in the fall despite the terrible spring. Not enough to make him happy though. He told many people that he had been promised a Tim Tebow role, to be the battering ram and take the load off Tim.

Remember how great people.said Brantley looked? Well, QBs often look better until they take a few shots and start hearing steps. See Driskel also.

An option offense requires a running QB PERIOD. It will work somewhat w a Jordan Reed or Trey Burton who cant pass, but it wont work AT ALL with a kid who may have some passing ability but little to no running ability. And dont tell me about how they run during two hand touch ball w a no contact jersey.

Trask.

Seriously Franks not looking a world better than last year, when he wasnt ready yet and was worse than LDR, and not looking a world better than Trask is a terrible sign.

But it has only been a handful of practices for them too, not just EJ.
The day Donkey actually referred to Trask as Trask and nobody noticed
