Bull's eye! I got mad hearing about how McElwain walked around the athletic offices and acted like pimp, pissing people off. It makes me madder still that no one brought his sorry self to heel. Yeah, I agree that a change at the departmental level is certainly needed. Stricklin, I hope, will be as much floor walker as administrative leader as we rebuild. This time around is going to be tougher than what McElwain faced when he came on board. The new guy is going to have to rebuild both sides of the ball and special teams. It's going to be tough slogging for the first couple years. Hopefully he keeps most of the recruits because that will check one of the many boxes on the list and act as a springboard toward a revival of the program.
I think there has to be a system wide change in the way we do things starting from the secretaries in the athletic department all the way to the president. For this program to get back on track toward winning a championship distractions need to be minimized (fiefdoms, infighting and players arrests etc.) and the mantra from day one needs to be "Act like you're Florida for God's sake and get the job done!"
Well, there are some good ones that might be nice in a vertical or power offense that won't work for Frost, too... not just the 3 star fluff we may have signed. You know what I meant keep the ones worth a sh*t in the fold!
We have to keep Corral,Pierce, Copeland,Chase,Gouraige,Burney, Dunlap,Pitts,Reese,Clement,Thornton. We cannot afford to lose one of those kids!Well, there are some good ones that might be nice in a verticaul or power offense that won't work for Frost, too... not just the 3 star fluff we may have signed.
Be able to brush our teeth and wear socks with shoes.
So what are your expectations for the the new coach? Thinking in terms of what he's going to have to do to glue this thing back together and make Florida Football not only functional, but successful beyond what we've "enjoyed" lately. Personally, I think he's liable to have to purge some of the roster, salvage this recruiting cycle however he can, and bring in pretty much a complete staff (I can't think of anyone outside of Seider right now that might warrant retaining). Depending on what his first roster looks like and the development he can do, he might have to scramble for a year...or two. Can we hang on if that is the scenario or do we absolutely have to have an immediate turn around? Interested to see what our group thinks is necessary, reasonable,or mandatory!

The new coach has the same expectations as McElwain:
1. Improve the offense
2. Win games
3. Make UF competitive against the best teams it plays
4. Run the program with integrity.
The program now is not in any where near the kind of disarray that it was in in the late 1980s. This program can be fixed quite quickly with solid coaching. The last staff failed in at least requirements 1 and 3. Doing half the job at best leads to a short tenure.
I agree w/ this. I think we can win as many as 9 regular season games next year, hell maybe 10 - w/ the right coach. But on the same note, we could be a 6-6 team. Who knows? We'll return a lot of guys who have seen extensive playing time....but a lot of those guys are 3-star talent, that probably shouldn't have been signed by a UF type of school.
The "culture" change is probably the top priority for the new guy....starting w/ the poor attitudes and weak S&C program.
Here is UF's 2018 football schedule:
UF should most certainly win home games against Charleston So., UK, Colorado St., LSU-Oregron, Missouri, SoCar and Idaho at home. UF should also win at Miss St. and at Vandy. That leaves 3 games that might be toss ups. Of those, I think UF should win at UTn, UGa is a toss up though I think they lose so much after this season that UF will win. That leaves at FSU and they could be in a downward spiral and next year will tell the tale.
- September 1 – Charleston Southern (Gainesville, Fla.)
- September 8 – Kentucky (Gainesville, Fla.)
- September 15 – Colorado State (Gainesville, Fla.)
- September 22 – at Tennessee (Knoxville, Tenn.)
- September 29 – at Mississippi State (Starkville, Miss.)
- October 6 - LSU (Gainesville, Fla.)
- October 13 - at Vanderbilt (Nashville, Tenn.)
- October 20 - Bye
- October 27 - vs. Georgia (Jacksonville, Fla.)
- November 3 - Missouri (Gainesville, Fla.)
- November 10 - South Carolina (Gainesville, Fla.)
- November 17 - Idaho (Gainesville, Fla.)
- November 24 - at Florida State (Tallahassee, Fla.)
So I will be highly disappointed if UF has less than 9 wins next year. There is plenty of talent to win those first 9 games I listed making it a matter of coaching. If UF has the right coach, those games will be wins. The other games will determine if it is a good season or a great season. Heck UF could end up favored in every games.
When isnthe last time we won an sec w road game? 2009?
Yeah, you are correct. But which ones? Elaborate. Assuming Frost takes the job.Keep some of the 18 class. There are going to be some pieces that just don't fit.
