Life With Father. TCM. 1947 William Powell. A famous broadway play that was the longest running (7 years) non-musical.
He read the paper early in the movie and said. "WHY DID GOD make so many dumb fools and democrats" He was angry about this mayor raising taxes.
Hugh John Grant (September 10, 1858 – November 3, 1910) served as the 88th mayor of New York City for two terms from 1889 to 1892. He remains the youngest mayor in the city's history. He is also one of the youngest mayors of a major United States city and one of the earliest Roman Catholic mayors ofNew York City.

Wonder Woman - I wanted to see this before I read any reviews and finally got to. Gal Gadot is absolutely adorable and carries what is actually a slow, weak plot. Fortunately she is given a multi dimensional character otherwise I'm not sure how enjoyable this would have been. She's a girl AND she's a bad ass. Cool. Plus those eyes, those lips. She's mesmerizing. Other than that not much to say. The climax is not overly fulfilling and the "I do it for love" theme is a bit cheesy but watcha gonna do? Looking forward to the next Wonder Woman movie which I hope is more action packed. Gratuitous luscious lips. Short skirt fu. No boobs. Joe Bob says check it out.

Glad to know. Been waiting for more word of mouth rather than revues on this one as well.

As a side note it was my first time in "Dolby" theater with recliners and vibrating seats. I'll go to movies more with those kind of seats. It was assigned seating also which is cool.

Did that for the first time with alien. What website did you use and did it say that it was in that theater? I've been looking for one that notifies you of that before you go.

I had no clue. We were late and I was wondering why the ticket window was so slow. When I got to the window I had to pick seats and was like WTF. He said something about "Dolby" and when the movie started it said something about "Dolby".

Wonder Woman: Agree with ThreatMatrix - the character & casting are really good. The plot seems like an uneven merge of Thor & Captain America. But, as an origins tale it accomplishes its goal very well. She is clearly reason #1 to have any interest/hope in the Justice League movie. (It will be hilarious if they make Aquaman compelling.)

Chris Pine is very good in it, as well.

not the movie, but Mrs. Trux and I went to a local performing arts center on Father's Day to take in The Phantom of the Opera, performed by the JSU Opera students. I must say that I was impressed. It did not seem like the performers were still in college. All of singers could really belt it out.
I've never seen the production, but Mrs. Trux has twice in professional Broadway type settings, and she also said that she was really impressed.

As far as the story goes I liked it. A good battle between the Angel of Music and Roaul would've helped, but... (can you tell I prefer action flix)

If your Mrs./Ms. is into this type of entertainment, I'd recommend taking her, you'll enjoy it too. I'd give it an 8/10

Our local performing arts center is what I'd consider very nice for the area we live in. We're about half-way between ATL and B-ham just off I-20 and attract some great acts/shows. There was an orchestra (very likely from the JSU music department) in a pit under the stage performing live (you could only see the top of the directors head sticking out of the opening and the music was piped in over the pa system - it was necessary that he retreat into the pit when the chandelier came crashing down). For a secondary, or thirdary, market, there's a great line-up that we'd normally have to travel over an hour to see.

btw, this JSU is Jacksonville State University - the same that all of the SEC football players transfer to when they get kicked out for being trouble makers. We've seen their Marching Band perform a few times and now their theater department and both are organized extremely well. If the band is playing in a stadium near you, I'd also recommend going to see them perform.

Hate to further derail a thread...non-movie but if any of you have not seen Avenue Q the musical...the next time it is within a 2 hour drive...make it. One of the best musicals you'll ever see. Puppets cursing, doing drugs, having sex...and songs you just can't help to laugh at...Everyone's a little bit racist and the Internet is for Porn are two of many funny sing-a-longs.

Power Rangers - these things came along after I had grown out of that stage, but the movie looked kind of cool. Netflix sent it to me and my family was out of the house long enough today to watch while I worked. The first hour and a half is actually a pretty good coming of age story. The kids they casted are pretty good and it was the whole lets figure out our new powers thing. It actually reminded me of Chronicle a little in that part of the movie. They actually do a descent part fleshing out their personalities. The last half hour is when it went down hill for me. The fighting and affects were cheesy and bad, better than the show but not good enough for a movie, and way to much slow motion. The monsters looked 1 step up from the show as well. They also insisted on playing the stupid music from the show. Had a couple of good cast members to round it out and of course setup a sequal with a teaser at the end. They said it didn't make enough money to warrant a sequel, but crushed it in merchandise sales so you will see another one. 5/10.

Fist Fight - basically a remake of the classic 3'oclock high from the 80s. Only teachers instead of student. Has its moments and is enjoyable for the most part. Ice cube still can't act that good after all these years but does ok. Charlie day is hilarious. Has a descent supporting cast that hit the marks when needed. It has this one girl though that keeps popping up in comedies that I don't find funny at all. That being said one teacher gets mad, challenges the other to a fight and the day is him trying to get out of it. That's the just if it. If you've seen the movie I mentioned before then you know everything that will happen but just in a slightly different way for the most part. I found it enjoyable, I laughed at some parts, and it wasn't to long for a comedy. 6/10

The anxiety of being waiting for fist fights after school resonated with me - so 3'oclock was a classic for me.

Is it the secretary off workaholics that keeps popping up... she seems to be in everything.

Just watched Logan. Wow. A completely different X Men movie. I watched it with my 10 and 12 year old last night. I knew it was darker and edgier than the others due to the R rating but wow.

Deadpool is more sex and language (which my children were NOT allowed to watch) but this one is HEAVY in adult themes. I thought it may have been a mistake to let them watch it at first - but the way they handle Logan's reconciliation with the carnage is done well and has a human element to it. The struggle with addiction, death, and legacy are done very well. Jackman's best performance to date.

The ending is a bit shocking. The F bomb is dropped around 50 times. Patrick Stewart is really good as a senile Charles Xavier and gives his best X Men performance as well. Logan is a dying alcoholic and there's quite a bit of talk about suicide.

As for violence the violence is not cartoony like the other X Men (including Deadpool). The limb severing and decapitations were pretty intense. And the new mutant, Laura, is badass and her fight choreography is fantastic.

8/10

Have your boys Old Man Logan it's the reference material. Also Laura in the movie is X-23 in the books.
