I agree with this and I didn't like Guardians at all, easily the Marvel movie I liked the least. Maybe I just came to accept it and the whole space theme had to eventually join the main avenger theme.

Ultimately, its a comic book movie. It has to make some choices about being true to the theme generally (though i read the real infinity gem war wasn't the avengers at all), rather than become more pseudo believable like some of the other space scifis. I mean, the avengers were hunting nazis after all, and this was before the Democrats started imagining nazis also.

The infinity war comic has been re-released for $1 at comic book stores... it incompassed a lot more than the avengers, but there in lies the problem. It isn't an avengers story, much like Civil War wasn't a Captain America story.

Just watched 3 Billboards outside Ebbing Mo...it was a free movie on my flight yesterday. Somewhat entertaining but really wasn't much of a plot or resolution. Just kind of meh...

Mirrored real life in the sense that so many crimes like that go unsolved. There was some interpersonal resolution, as well. Acting and writing was off the damn charts, too.

Watched Infinity War on Saturday. One of the best movies I’ve ever seen in a theater. Built for a theater. The ending was stunning.

Good chance we're seeing it again this weekend now that the "holy sh*t" factor has worn off.

It was overwhelming, a masterful balancing of so many moving parts and personalities into a cohesive story that stretches across the universe and feels personal. Pure comic genius brought to the big screen. Empire Strikes Back-level epic. The MCU team gets it and just keeps delivering.

Hoping to see it again this weekend.

                Stupid question- (and for @Captain Sasquatch , @GatorJ ) ...
But do you have to go back and watch any previous films to understand what’s going on with this one?

Not really. But if you don’t know who the characters are you may get lost. I didn’t see the last couple Thors and there seemed to be some sort of sequential tie in to the last one but it didn’t affect my ability to follow it.

                  Just read this:

There's quite a few I haven't seen...Thors, Guardians, Dr Strange...but I didn't have a problem following. I'm sure there are nuances I didn't pick up on, but overall you can still follow the movie. It's fantastic.

Not really. We did re-watch a few in the weeks leading up to it, but while it definitely picks up on & weaves threads from past movies there aren’t obscure critical details.

The most relevant prequels are in order of importance:

                      Thor Ragnarok
                      Dr. Strange
                      Guardians 1
                      Captain America: Civil War
                      Black Panther

Which, by the way, are all top-shelf MCU movies.

I’m glad you weren’t lost, but it really does pick up shortly after Thor Ragnarok left off. You’ll get a big “Ohhhh.... that’s why...”

                        (No spoilers!)

Someone with just a general knowledge of Marvel wouldn’t get the Guardians or Dr. Strange and maybe not Black Panther without those prequels. And they’d be missing 3 really good movies.

I caught up on both Guardians films and Doctor Strange in the weeks leading up to Infinity War's release, and I'm glad I did. However, I don't think they're essential to understand the plot of Infinity War. Only Marvel films I haven't seen are Ant Man and Incredible Hulk, and I'll probably watch Ant Man prior to the sequel coming out. I have no desire to see the old Hulk film.

                            Antman is good.

All the Hulk movies (other than the avenger movies) suck

The wife and I are playing catch up before seeing Infinity War..

Dr. Strange (2016): I'll preface this by saying, I was expecting this morning to be more boring than it was, similar to Thor, Thor2, and Captain America: First Avenger. I'm not a Cumberbun fan (he isn't Khan), wife is less of a fan. But unlike those movies the visuals were fantastic and the story was decent. The movie is worth taking a look at, but I wouldn't say it is my favorite MCU movie. I would give it a 6.5/10.

Threatmatrix matrix: no boobs were harmed or seen in the viewing of this movie on the screen.

Dr Strange was interesting and the hero chick was well played. I liked it better than I thought I would. Certainly better than the first two Thors. In the end he is just Gandalf with a better ring, but what the hell. If we can believe in mutants I guess we can believe in wizards, right?

Thor Ragnarok was cool just to hear Led Zep playing to all these nitheaded millenials "discovering" them. Let's face it, anyone is cooler while kicking ass with Led Zep or ACDC (Shoot to Thrill) in the background. Probably weird for the millenials to learn that some musicians actually know how to play instruments. No, an auto tuner or scratching isn't playing an instrument.

The space angle with Guardians was cheezy but we are talking comics books and a hero who slides to earth on a rainbow bridge (cue Sas) when he isn't hitchhiking with the Guardians. I liked it better than I thought I would.

I get the point you're making here and I agree, but AC/DC is the most basic instrumental rock band maybe ever. Their drummer plays the same exact beat in every single song, FFS.

                              Zeppelin though?

There are 2 Hulk movies - one by Ang Lee starting Eric Bana & Jennifer Connolly, which is ok. Then there is one with Ed Norton & Tim Roth that is technically the MCU prequel but looks entirely different except William Hurt carries on as General Ross. Not necessary and among the weakest origins films.

Thor & the Immigrant Song was comic/movie genius.

Guardians was just a lot of fun and the K-Tel soundtrack was great. (Wonder how many under 50 will get that reference.)

The Marvel team has done an amazing job. I know Stan had a lot of input early on...not sure how much he has lately with his health but I think he did a great job of conveying a lot of his ideas. They just did an awesome job turning great comics into great movies. I'd love to see X-Factor make an appearance which was the next iteration of the X-Men before X-Force. I loved comics when I was a kid. Frank Miller did a mini-series called Ronin. Epic storyline...can't believe it hasn't been optioned for a movie(it has been never made it to production).
