What a week. Between the 4th quarter comeback win to make it 10 straight over the Vols, Will Muschamp’s fantastic post-game trolling of UT fans, and the shenanigans involving Treon Harris, and later Gerald Willis and Skyler Mornhinweg, it has been an eventful few days for Gator fans. Despite all of that, there is thankfully still football to be played, and thus X’s and O’s to discuss. Those X’s and O’s will, for better or worse, involve Jeff Driskel again, and thus it makes sense to look again at our offense with him behind center, particularly a play concept...

Just need the QB and receiver on the same page reading whether it's man or zone. Almost had a pick last night because Luck and D. Allen weren't reading it the same.

I think what bothers me the most is Jeff can't even hit his wide receiver screens. He constantly is off in those throws. If you throw a little bit behind or a little too high you completely destroy the play. The WR's need the ball right on the money so they can immediately turn up field and run.

Interesting, especially Richt's explanation of his version.

It's also interesting that the top video shows Driskel running the play incorrectly. He gets to his drop-- THROW THE DAMN BALL AT THE THIRD STEP as Roper said over and over-- the mike, who had been showing blitz, is in the way (not actually covering the y receiver on the cross but waiting on the back to slip out of the backfield) so rather than throwing to the second read and hitting an open Dunbar (at the bottom of the screen) he takes a hop step and waits (and hopes) for the crosser to come open. Had the mike actually been covering the crossing route, the play would have been blown and the timing on the other reads screwed. Just more Driskelin.

One more game.

Well, you know, I'm an optimistic guy.

But you are right, if they had been icing Driskel's knee all week and just decided on Friday he was able to go, he'd still be playing. After all, Jeff Drizkel gives us the best chance to win.

Well put Law. The Driskeling is the biggest issue and the problem. He is simply not making those reads and delivering the ball when he's supposed to. Much of Spurrier's passing attack was timing. JD waiting for a WR to break open is problematic these days with the quality and speed we'll see. It all boils back down to what I said before. JD is limiting what Roper can do offensively. Easy to see differences in JD and TH even though we only saw a little of him. TH's first pass after his fake was 1-2-3 and hit Jones on the swing and hit him right in stride and in the hands. Productive play. Good analysis.
