This wholeabout star system bull crap is just people making excuses for Mac period. Where were these threads when Urban was pulling #1 classes and sending multiple players to the nfl each year. It was until Mac came on the scene and starting recruiting like Helen Keller that these threads popped up. Ask any coach in the country and each one will tell you yes I'd rather have a 5* player over a 2* player. Every coach will say yes I'll take 25 players ranked inside the top 100 rather than 12 3* players and the rest 4-5* players 100% of them. So drop the excuses for Mac!

2015 - SIX 3 stars and THREE 2 stars: 38% of class

2016 - ELEVEN 3 stars and a THREE 2 stars: 56% of class


2017 - SEVEN 3 stars and ONE 2 star: 35%

The good news is that he actually had a large class of 2017 and brought a good number of four-star talent in. I think most people have been pleasantly surprised with 2017. Would like to now see an offense. The 2017 class was markedly better than the 2016 and 2015 class. Although those other two classes had one or two guys that were really top-tier.

I'm not gonna go through Meyer or Chump's classes. But I would assume that Meyer probably sat around 5% to 10% at 2 to 3 stars. And chump around 15% to 20%.

According to Gator Breakdown since 2003 (that's includes mostly Urbs and Chumps years) we average 55% blue chippers:
So in 2015 we had 62% blue chippers
in 2016 we had 44%
in 2017 we had 65%
That's one of those pointless stats though because it doesn't matter how many blue chippers we sign year over year. The important thing is how many blue chippers we sign versus the SEC and F$U.
