Well, Uncle Willie wanted some Bass so I went down again yesterday and tried to get him some. I did manage to get one, but the catfish were still assaulting every bait you throw into the water. Them things are a bit overpopulated in that little pond I think. Enjoy!

Brook Trout in NC flyfishing on the French Broad. She might look small.... but these are extremely rare to catch and this is about as big as they can grow.

That's something I've never got into is fly fishing. You got my admiration that's for sure. Takes practice and patience to master that craft. Nice fish too!

Thanks Nav. Patience is required. We didn't realize this area of NC (Brevard and Lake Toxaway) is under an extreme drought. The rivers are incredibly low and it is oddly warm. Because the water is so low and clear, the fish can see really well. So I am working a 7x line, which is like tying a knot with a damn pubic hair while standing in a river. You work a fly for 10-15 minutes and then switch it out until you find what they want. It is really strange what they go after sometimes. You work a hole for maybe an hour, then move up or down stream until you find another hole. I only do this once a year, but I love it.

Way to go dumbass, you wiped all her protective slime off on your filthy redneck camo outfit.....so much for protecting future stocks she probably died less than 10 minutes after you released her.....j/k ;)

See how light colored that bass is? That's how they look in really cloudy water. In clear water, they damn near get black.

Around these parts all ponds are cloudy/muddy. Comes with living in red clay territory. Especially farm ponds where cows are constantly walking into the pond to cool off. If you watch the video, you'll see and hear the cows literally munching grass and standing in the water not 15 yards from me. By the way, that's a beautiful fish you're holding.

Hadn't contribited any freshwater catches to this thread.

I am very fortunate to have the very best freshwater fishing opportunity possible, and it goes like this.

The sun rises, I grab my rod, put on flip flops and walk about 200 yards to my friend's house. I open his rear gate and throw the gear into his boat, a two seater lake trolling boat with a small electric motor.

The bass seem to very much enjoy the plastic worms I offer them, and I usually catch 10 to 12 in an hour and a half. Nothing bigger than 5 pounds, cause it is a smallish neighborhood lake, but I don't spend a dime or waste a minute in pursuing a live fish on a taunt line.

It was a beautiful day to go fishing yesterday. 3:30pm low tide was not ideal but water temp is 73 degrees and the high yesterday was around 80. Not bad for early February.

I caught a half dozen 12" trout, a small amberjack and a small snapper. Nothing I could put on the dinner table but the bite was steady and I still had fun.

Went out with my buddy Don today and we clubbed em pretty good again...Started the morning off on a school of about 200-300 Black Drum in the 8-12lb range and caught 5 before leaving them biting to revisit a favorite sandhole at a undisclosed location.....Got distracted by Upper slot Reds that were moving around potholes on the flats next to the sand hole. We ended up catching 9 of them between 25-30" before hitting what we call "Giant Sand Hole".....see if you can figure out why?

I went back to my honey hole after a six month break. I caught 13 bass, the largest being about 2.5 pounds. Remember when it was called "too easy" when I caught 44 that day back in June? It hasn't been anywhere near that ever since. Boy, did I hit an incredible spot that day.

You guys, posting pics of the fish you caught. All I've seen is weak stuff. Now, this took talent to catch. I used a blue crab as bait and hooked this monster.

You can't expect much when you go back to their home during school hours.
