Off the top of my memory:

1. Emmitt ran for 330+ yards on 31 carries and didn t touch the field in the fourth quarter

2. Emmitt set the record (at the time) for alltime Gator rushing yards with a huge run in that game.

3. Falcon favorite Terence Mathis played for New Mexico.

4. We went home hoping this would launch Emmitt into the Heisman conversation, but Andre Ware threw something like 700 yards and 10 TDS and Anthony Thompson had 52 carries and 370 ish yards and Emmitt's effort was quickly forgotten nationally.

We were a forgettable team that year but that sticks as a memorable one for me. Loved Emmitt, loved seeing him get the record as a junior, hated he wasnt as acknowledged nationally as he should have been.

Had he stuck around he would've been a shoe-in for Heisman. Back then it was mostly a senior award.
