As it should. Why? First there is the many years of tradition. Next the massive TV coverage of both the game and the various activities that surround it. Both teams make more money that they would if we went home and home. The city who has come to rely on the benefits should continue to get them.

I did not read the link so if something other is in there I don't know about it.

The new five-year deal to keep the Florida-Georgia football game in Jacksonville that was signed by officials from both schools more than a year ago is about to become official. The new contract has been sent to the city of Jacksonville for final approval, which is expected to come perhaps as early as this week. During original negotiations between the schools and Jacksonville, the city lobbied for a 10-year deal, but Georgia wanted a shorter term and all parties eventually agreed on a five-year contract in March of 2016. The game will continue to be played on the final Saturday in October, running through the 2021 season. The terms of the contract call for both schools to receive as much as $2.75 million in incentives over the next five years, and a $125,000 payment once the contract is finalized by the city. Each school is guaranteed $250,000 annually through the 2021 season, in addition to ticket revenue. Additionally, each school’s travel budget for the game has been increased under the new deal. UF makes $3.4 million each year from the game. The rivalry annually attracts 138,000 visitors to Jacksonville, generating $35 million for the city’s economy.

not to be critical, but you would only find those highlights on a 5 and 1/2. 3 and 1/4s weren't prevelent until a while later.

Suck it, DSS!

Well, technically he's right. I thought about saying something, but figured I'd be tagged as a geek (which might have some truth to it). Now, it appears you needed that honest feedback from a Master Chief so you'd have no choice but to accept it, LCDR.

UF makes $3.4 million each year from the game.
So what? You seem impressed by that as if you are clueless we make many times that on home games (when we are giving over half the cake to Ugly and Jacksonville).

Hell, we pay crappy teams 1-1.5 million to come to Gainesville and embarass Butterteeth and Chimp.

http://www.gainesville.com/news/20161117/canceled-uf-games-hurt-fan-centric-businesses

According to this article that is mostly about all spending that event goers pay per home game, it says that for football games altogether fans pay about 5 million per home game, but that includes tickets, shopping, lodging, food and travel.

Further down it discusses a $500,000 buyout for Presbyterian, and that the 2 cancelled games, UF would receive insurance payouts for lost revenue of 7.8 million, or a ballpark or 3.9 million per game.

I also found another article about the 2009 per game operating revenue, which at the time was about 2.3 to 2.5 million per game, which would have been what the school actually gained from each game back then. There was not much difference between who we played except FSU and UT games brought in 2.5 per game
http://businessofcollegesports.com/...about-floridas-football-revenue-and-expenses/

Considering inflation etc, 3.5 to 4 million per home game would be realistic.

looking at some other sites, looks like all ticket sales for all sports equals about 24.5 million on their own.
That would be 3.5 for 7 home games, assuming every ticket for every other sport was free.
So 3.5 to 4 mil per home game with ticket sales plus food and merch sales is probably in the ballpark.

We get it. You want one of the greatest traditions in all of college football to end. Got it.
