... wealth? ... so we're not a broke program? FIFY, Swonkey.
I agree, somewhat. Having the experience back is great. Having real coaches and an actual strength and conditioning program is going to pay dividends. Our defense will keep us in games this year.
Can we return all of them for a full refund?
@PeterBurnsESPN: If CFB teams were stocks and I had a build a solid portfolio for growth, these would be my top 5 investments: 1) Florida (Incredible value) 2) Nebraska (Huge upside) 3) Alabama (Safe but expensive) 4) Penn State (Undervalued) 5) A&M (Volatile but might spike)
Yes the O line was garbage but so was the S&C program. I think there will be a huge difference in both lines this year with savage or whatever his name is actually having a program. Not the high school BS butters and his crew ran
I agree w/ you. I think OL could be a strength ("could be"). We're returning our top 10 OL's, plus get the Texas transfer and the JUCO in early. We'll have 12 OL's that have playing experience or are transfers, coming in w/ playing experience....plus redshirt freshman TJ Moore. Selfishly, I was hoping Telfort would return.
I would have liked Telfort to return solely based on talent and what he could possibly do on the field. But at the end of the day I’m happier now with the guys we have coming back minus telfort. Only because I don’t want the program to turn into Free Shoes U
I hope he’s right about #1!
This "could be" is correct. Need lots of improvement though. However, I'm just going to go ahead and get hyped despite my concerns. McCoy, Taylor and Ivey All SEC Holes like Percy used to run thru Short yardage pushes that Tebow used to get Trap blocks in earholes that flatten grown men GET HYPE
Nothing? Not even their derrieres?
You know what I like.
I appreciate your enthusiasm and your hope but I want to thank you for giving me a good laugh with what I boldfaced:lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2:
Okay, I just can't get excited about 17 starters returning next year. I mean, that team stunk to high heaven! And it's a good thing that most of them are coming back? I read the optimism and I hope it's accurate, but a new staff, a new system, most likely a true freshman QB, plus the returning nucleus of a horrible team just does not make me think there will be dramatic improvement. But hell, if they just show up they'll end up doing better than this past year.
First, I’m not hanging 4-7 on these starters. I hang it on the HC and staff that failed to prepare them, including the suspensions that gutted the team before they got out of the gate. At WR we have one, Cleveland, that can really play. Otherwise we are starting from scratch. I like our returning RBs, especially Davis who raises the others’ game. Hope he recovers fully. OL - this group needs to really respond to the new S&C guy and Hevesy. There is size and talent but it’s got to improve. This group REALLY reminds me of 2004 - we kept expecting the OL to mature and they kept being substandard. TE - starting from scratch. But I remember when Faulkner & Mularkey were unknown sophomores so good that Wilber had to find PT at LB. QB - starting from scratch and I’ll be happy to see any of them emerge and any of the others leave to find a place that fits. Can’t blame Franks too much but he’s starting all over. DT - good size & depth. DE - depends on who can handle the new scheme. Too early to know how this shakes out. LB - I like Reese and expect him to be better with experience. But it’s too early to know exactly who will be where at LB and who will respond to the new scheme and coaches. I think there is talent there. CB - I really like Wilson & Henderson. I like Chauncey at CB or Nickel. S - I’d call Taylor a starter and like him.
I expect the oline, with the new staff, will at least know which jersey to block...
Between the experience we have returning, recruiting, juco transfers and better coaching I expect to see a team that starts a little shaky but improves as the year progresses.
He’s smoking crack with a&m unless he means Florida A&M or some other state.
One of those weird times where I view this as a largely negative stat
Returning 17 started from a sh^t show ain’t nothing to be excited about.
If the coaches were returning I would agree with you, but those guys never gave these kids a chance. We really don't know what we have. How we'll perform this year is a complete mystery.
