ZERO to gain from this....Strychnine strikes again. What Gator fan wouldn't want to see a straight up home/home with say Clemson, Texas, or Southern Cal (see 1982-83, win and tie for reference)?
Yeah.... not me. Until we rebuild and hire a competent coach, we should be playing 1AA. Hell we arent even safe w them.

Edit: Just checked. It was Majors who coached Pitt that year. Then what good was Sherrill?

Somebody had to win the West in ‘98. It was Sherrill’s 8-5(6-2) bulldogs that stepped up and refused to let fellow 6-2 powerhouse Arkansas steal all the glory and continue their emerging dynasty. His gutsy 22-21 win over the pigs would be the tiebreaker. Third place Alabama, 7-5, 4-4 in SEC play, fell just short of really challenging what locals at the time were calling the “Starkville Spectaculars”.

The only blemishes on Sherrill’s resume that year, if we’re getting real particular, were the 41-6 loss at the hands of 4-7 Lsu. And well...yeah, I guess also that other loss to (gulp) 7-4 Kentucky.

USF has everything to gain and nothing to lose by playing UF. We gain nothing by playing them. We already have one in-state rival. -- FSU. We could resume an old rivalry with Miami and that could create a lot of interest. But playing these Florida directional schools -- USF or UCF or FAU -- does nothing for us. But if they beat us then they gain and we lose. If we beat them then we gain nothing.
Exactly.
