Former Florida Gators running back Mon Williams died Monday due to heart failure, according to teammate and longtime friend, Emmanuel Moody.

Williams, a four-star signee ranked as the nation's 17th-best ballcarrier by the 247Sports Composite in the class of 2006, played at Florida from 2006-08 before transferring to Eastern Illinois after a serious knee injury.

Moody's post on Instagram reads, "Heart broken hearing this news...Mon Williams was a good man with a heart of gold and a great friend. He would help anyone and everyone - a true servant of God. A man who lived with strong conviction. I'm gonna miss you and I love you brother..."

Williams was a member of two national championship teams for Urban Meyer in Gainesville.
