Yep, he was an excellent coach. He was one of the last of the breed of football coach moving into the AD position. I am not sure how great an AD he was but he had a great track and field program for a good part of his time and I think hired Nolan Richardson.

I looked around the internet and was shocked to see he outlived James "Slick" Street the UTx QB who beat his team in one of the so called games of the century.

The King of Arkansas football. Came to Florida as an assistant with Bob Woodruff from when Woodruff left Baylor to become head coach at Florida. After one year at UF returned to Georgia Tech where he was on the staff of Bobby Dodd. Become head coach at Missouri for one year before becoming th head coach at Arkansas. Had legendary games against Daryl Royal at Texas in the old Southwest Conference. Doug Dickey was an assistant on Broyles' staff at Arkansas before Dickey was hired as head coach at Tennessee.

Lots of connections to Florida, the SEC, and the SWC.
