GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Gators were ranked No. 2 in D1Baseball's Preseason Poll released on Tuesday. Head coach Kevin O'Sullivan's club had previously been tabbed No. 3 in Collegiate Baseball's preseason poll and No. 4 in Perfect Game's poll.

D1Baseball began rankings prior to the 2015 season and the Gators have ranked in the top two each year during the preseason (2016-No. 1; 2015-No. 2). Florida joins four other Southeastern Conference programs in the D1Baseball Top 25: No. 4 South Carolina, No. 5 LSU, No. 7 Vanderbilt and No. 20 Texas A&M.

Florida will host four Top 25 opponents in McKethan Stadium this season, with in-state rivals No. 21 Miami (Feb. 24-26) and No. 3 Florida State (March 14) coming to Gainesville. In addition, UF hosts SEC series against No. 5 LSU (March 24-26) and No. 4 South Carolina (April 20-22).

The Gators open the 2017 season on Feb. 17 against William and Mary at McKethan Stadium. Season tickets and Mini Plans for the 2017 Gator Baseball season are on sale now and can be purchased online through FloridaGators.com or by calling the Gator Ticket Office at 1-800-34-GATOR from 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Last season, UF went 52-16 and ranked sixth in the final Perfect Game Top 25 poll. After losing eight players to the 2016 MLB Draft, the Gators squad will be bolstered by 13 newcomers.

K O has proved that he can win the SEC and dominate the Noles but now it is time to bring the big one to Gainesville. Please.

I am looking forward to baseball season. I went to a few of the fall scrimmages and this team has quite a bit of talent. At times last year the team struggled to score runs, but I think that the run production will be more consistent this year. They have a very good team, but my issue is that on the biggest stage, Sully gets so tight you can't get a toothpick up his A$$, and it feeds down to the players. But there is enough talent to make a very serious run to and thru Omaha.

I hope they get to Omaha. I'm only a few hours away and would love to go.
