Really took it on the chin tonite 11-5. Kowar got behind in the count early on and gave up a 3 run bomb in the top of the 1st. We cut it to 3-2 with back to back homers from Horvath and Liput, but the Barn stretched it back the very next inning. Auburn hit the ball well all nite. We hit a lot of balls hard but they seemed to be right at the defender. That happens in baseball. The biggest problem is when it appeared we had a little momentum, we could not shut the Barn down in the next frame and we were climbing a hill all nite. Maybe the guys thought it would be easy tonite after beating Mize in Game 1. Well we got whacked and need a good start tomorrow by Leftwich and need to warm the bats early to keep our streak of winning every SEC series this year going.

AUB hit the ball extremely well last night. Several good Defensive plays in the Gator outfield limited the damage. It seemed like they were very confident and made great contact with the ball.

The Gator bats not so much. I don't recall a game where we hit as many pop ups, especially late in the game against their #20.

Hopefully today goes well. Go Gators!

Head coach Kevin O'Sullivan on tonight's game: "It was disappointing. I'll have to go look at it, but it's been a while since all three starters have been sharp on the same weekend. We're going to have to figure that out because in a Regional setting we're going to have to get three quality starts to move on to Supers.

We need to shut Dyson down for a week or so IMO. Give him time to get right and rest his arm, the kid is still fairly new to pitching.

Leftwich is going to be a special player here at UF. Way to battle back after a nightmare 1st inning.

Dyson looks a little "broke." Maybe some time will help him, but his issues can't be physical fatigue.

Hope India is OK.

Great day at the MAC as the game began exactly like game 2. Leftwich hit the first batter of the game on a 1-2 count and then promptly walked the next guy getting Sully to the mound immediately and Dyson throwing in the pen. After a flyout, the same guy who blasted a 3 run bomb in the 1st inning of game 2, did so again today and it looked like it was going to be another long day. But in the 4th we began to put a lot of good swings on the ball and put up a 6 spot in the 4th highlighted by a bases loaded clearing double by Horvath. Lots of line drives and and no home run until Liput's 2 run homer later in the game. Amazing what happens when you hit the ball on or near the ground. After a horrible first inning, Leftwich was outstanding. Threw strikes his last 5 2/3 innings and rarely had any difficulty. amazing what happens when you throw quality strikes. Dyson on with 2 out and none on in top of 7th and he promptly hit the first batter then gave up a hit. Sully went and got him. Dyson is a mess, although I would have not put him in to try and get the third out of an inning with no one on base. He needs lots of bullpen sessions midweek and see if he can get straight.

Hope the rest-week gives our pitching arms revitalization. Also hope our batters get back to slapping some out. Go Gators!

This is the time of year when it becomes a grind. Pitchers really have to focus on mechanics because everything feels right even if it isn't. This is time when a mental lull can take over the clubhouse. These guys have been there before and will fight through it. Sully will probably change the weekly routine a little to include more rest and active rest away from baseball to allow these guys to get their legs back under them and finish out strong. aTm should be a good series to help these guys start to peak at the right time.
Go Gators!!!
