We were right all along on Zook, Muschamp, and now Butters. Butters was the worst of the 3, making the other two look like Bill Belichick and Vince Lombardi in comparison.

Yet, during the last 2 years, we have been vilified by both the local (creeps like Buddy Martin) and national sports media. Gator fans are:

-Spoiled
-Entitled
-Won't accept anything but winning every game
-Responsible for running Spurrier and Meyer out of town

After lampooning Mac for what he is the last two years and being insulted for it, the truth starts to ooze out a little at a time, and it turns out we were right - again.

So far, the only member of the media that has even remotely stuck up for us is Mike Bianchi. :ugh:

So we're listening, national media members. We're ready to accept your apologies.

Discuss.

I can hear them all furiously typing out a response on their Smith-Coronas now.

Actually Goldy has been fairly good to us. He's called out Mac more times than not. Just want him to see this thread

We got some heat. But I think the way Stricklin handled things, from the Monday official statement, to the "strike while the iron's hot" dismissal, helped tremendously. Instead of allowing this issue to be speculated on, and regurgitated a million times by sportswriters, and analysts, he immediately stopped the bleeding. It also allowed guys like Dooley and others to truly speak their minds on the subject, rather than having to go to bat for the beleaguered coach the rest of the year, knowing the inevitable. All focus is now on the coaching search and moving forward.

But yeah, the few who took shots like McElroy have been in full backtrack mode all week. And the fact that even our players were seemingly more upset at how they got the news than the news itself, says a lot as well. We've been largely vindicated and I think they'll be more coming to light in the next few months that will only add to our already slam-dunk case.

On a related note, with the addition of UF's own media guys (Carter and Harry) who are treated like "normal media members," the non-UF guys - Dooley, Edgar Thompson, Mark Long and the such - are now even less inclined to report anything that might put their UF media passes, free food, and good seats at risk.

We can get coach and player quotes, stats, and injury reports from UF directly.

The media should do their jobs and ask the hard questions and expose the dirt.

I'm just glad Strickland pulled the trigger when he did instead of waiting for the season to be over. The noise was about to get deafing and media would have doubled down on the fans.

Anyone have any idea who asked Stricklin at his press conference if expectations were too high at UF?

Right here:

Yeah the reporters name was Tim Blackelstain. He was wearing a bowler hat, bottle cap glasses and had a thick mustache.

Are expectations to high? Well lets see douche.....if it weren't for 3 other teams being ow'fer in the east we'd be next to last in the standings and are currently behind UK who we probably should have lost to along with UT. We are WAAAYYY out of the top 25 and have a 50/50 chance and not going to a bowl game. Have been BLOWN out of every game since Mac has been here when playing teams ranked in the top 10 and particularly in games that matter. Embarrassed by UM, FSU, Ugay (recently) and Bama...and yes, freaking Arkansas. We lost to a horrible LSU team at home for homecoming. Recruiting has been subpar at best and we currently have 9 players that barely missed jail time due to credit card fraud (Mac is the CEO and he has to bear some responsibility for this). The offense is unwatchable and Franks looks like he just walked off a HS football field. Everyone knows Nuss sucks, yet not only did Mac not remove him after last year, he stuck by him for some inexplicable reason.

So, perhaps you would like to retract the question now that you have had time to think about it.

I could not agree more.
Especially the comment about our attitudes running off SOS and Meyer. The reality is that the administration's lack of support is what caused SOS to depart and the fear of unending competition is what ran off Meyer. I guess it is easier to blame the fans especially when you are a fat, lazy a$$ like most of them.
