For 20 hours. At night. In the open Gulf.

Dude is way tougher and cooler under pressure than I'd be.

Of course the flipside is, I'd probably be rescued faster because I'd be shrieking at the top of my lungs the entire time. The Coast Guard would want to find me to shut me the hell up.

But, a happy ending....

I used to fish offshore quite a bit when I lived in Jax. Always been one of my biggest fears is ending up alone, treading water. Glad he was found and is okay.

He did lotsa things wrong and is lucky not to be dead. At the very least, if he wasn't smart enough not to go out alone, he should have had a PLB. Those things are cheap these days.

Amazing how hard a grouper can pull. Catch one over 20 pounds and you think you've hooked up a Volkswagon until you can get it 20-30 feet off the bottom.
