I've tried separating inside and outside guys in past polls. Not worth it. Let's try to look at everyone in one great pile. Lots of people to consider, though I expect Marshall to poll #1.

Brantley was tremendous to anyone who was around back then. Apologies to anyone from the '50s or '60s (or otherwise) who I may have missed.

Wilber! Wilber! Wilber!
When the whole stadium is chanting your name you must be doing something right.

The star of that game? Linebacker Wilber Marshall, who flew around the field to collect 14 tackles and sack USC quarterback Sean Salisbury 4 times. His performance earned him national recognition when he was named the Defensive Player of the Week by both Sports Illustrated and the Associated Press.

The only game that I've seen a defensive dominance even close to that was Alex Brown against Tennessee.

Although that hit by Spikes was a hell of a game tone set against Georgia. My favorite Georgia game of all time.

Marshall no doubt......Now if you want to talk about the most under rated I would say Bostic....In fact it makes me sick to think of all the talent on that 2012 defense that went to waste because of Muschamp's putrid offense...

The answer is Wilbur Marshall. I see you listed Sammy Green (1972 - 1975 ) and rightly so. But the equal to Green from that same era were Ralph Ortega and Glen Cameron.

Spikes. 2 Nattys. As important to the defense as Tebow was to the offense.

And, too young to have seen Wilbur Marshall though I understand why he's the clear cut favorite.

Nav votes for Jevon Kearse, the third best LB on his own team and a guy who was a TERRIBLE LB, but good pass rusher.

He should be banned.

Before anyone *ahem Swamp Donkey* ridicules me for voting for Peterson over Marshall - I have no doubt that Wilbur was the better player. But I never saw him play. So I based my vote on people I saw play (from 1991 on technically, though I really don't remember much before the 1995 season).

Peterson was the best LB on the 97 98 team without a doubt, though Rutledge was solid also.

Wilber. Silly question. There are some positions where there are debates, but LB (Wilber), RB (Emmitt), OL-Tackle (Lomas Brown), and DE (Jack Youngblood) are locked.

Jarrad Davis is one of the best all time IMO.

Like many others, im not old enough to have seen Marshall play but I'll take your word.
