Agreed. I don’t care how people try to spin them being Big 10 champs. They had no business getting a shot. If tegular season matters and is the 1st round of the playoffs as some claim, then losing TWICE in said 1st round is a disqualifier, regardless of them winning their conference.

I am in the camp that says there should be a legitimate system for determining a champion rather than a beauty pageant where people vote for whoever the feel is the best team. Why do I feel that way? Because I think arguments like this one are stupid. I thought is was BS last year when OSU got the nod over conference champ Penn St, and I thought is was BS this year when Bama got the nod over OSU. And finally no I don't think UCF is the best team in the land or that they would even have a chance in the playoff, but all you can do is win every game. If that's not good enough to advance then re-align the subdivisions as I mentioned.

Just so I’m clear, you feel OSU should have been the 4th team this year instead of Bama?

Do you actually think you are winning your silly "argument"?

    You sound like Wobble.

No, now I’m going to tell you how they lost to Iowa and Oklahoma, both in the regular season, which seems to contradict your earlier position that every game of the season is important. I don’t think a team that loses twice in the regular season has any business getting into a 4 team playoff. Hey, if you feel otherwise, so be it.

Your opinion is noted. Let me ask you this...if Auburn would have won the SECCG should they have gone to the playoff?

Just tell me 1) in your opinion which 4 teams should have made the playoffs this year? 2) are you for or against the playoff structure? 3) if you’re for the playoff structure, how many teams should be included?

    Probably not.

Edit: make that a no. 2 reg season losses knocks them out.

It's pretty simple, you qualify by a bowl by going 6-6. The playoffs should be the same way. You qualify to go to the playoff by winning your conference and having no more than one loss. You then devise the number of games and byes based on how many teams qualify. Some year it might be 5-6 teams. Give byes to the top teams.

Does that mean Cincy and UCF get in? yes, who cares. They will lose 41-7 whether they play 2009 UF or 2009 Bammer. Do I think they are really one of the top 4 teams? no. Who cares. It's like a bye for the top teams. If they actually beat the #1 team, then they won it on the field.

However, no team that fails to win the own fvkking division or conference is a national champion. Nor does any team that lost 2 or 3 games even if they won the conference.

As would Georgia if Auburn had won the game! I guess we're just left with judging and voting like ice dancing.

And just for more clarity, I don’t like the playoff structure. I actually prefer the old way of #1 vs #2. I think it’s easier to identity 2 worthy teams rather than 4, 6 or 8. I think there’s less noise when it’s just 2 teams as fewer outlier teams meet the criteria of the 2 that are selected. Obviously you disagree and want the playoff. Fair enough, we happen th have different opinions on this.

This is the weakest thing I ever seen! Any team that has to claim themselves as champions, aren't champions. I know everyone keeps bringing up other teams that have claimed national titles, and they're weak too.

Meh...too complicated trying to throw a schedule together on 3 weeks notice with potentially a different number of a teams and games each year, TV and site selection issues scheduling broadcast and stadium time for games that might not be played, etc.

True. But I heard a good point in the radio this morning. It’s also true that they should trumpet themselves and push for as much exposure as possible in order to angle for a P5 slot or something like that. Utah got to the PAC 12. Louisville to the ACC. TCU to the Big 12.

But they have to upgrade attendance and their stadium. Season tickets start at $99, 50,000 students (their season tickets are cheaper and there’s a lottery for “free” tickets subsidized by an athletic fee. Still their 45k stadium is usually 2/3rds full or less.

Pretty easy vote. One team has 1 loss and the other has 2. There has to be some kind of judging or voting. Even in a 68 team college basketball tournament/ playoff there's a freakin committee.

Isn't their stadium something like no more than 8-10 years old, too? Hard to believe they didn't have better foresight in building something bigger and better.

I also seem to recall there was some snafu when the stadium first opened, like they forgot to put water fountains anywhere inside the stadium. Any insight Theo if I am remembering correctly on that issue?

The first paragraph makes a little sense but the 2nd on is completely bs. Ucf or any other mid major doesn't have to run the same gauntlet as a p5 team especially one that actually makes a decent schedule. Third paragraph, well never agree on. They're the best in the land by a mile. I don't really give a shcit about all these parameters yall wanna make up. I wanna see the best 4, period.
