Im guessing he got bit on the hand because he was reaching for the snake. Snakes typically only strike when they feel threatened.

How the hell can it bite him unless he pushes his hand towards the teeth? There is no body to push the head/teeth towards him? Regardless, I would think prudence would dictate to use a damn shovel to pick up the head, rather than your hands.
This is why I prefer a shotgun blast to the head to kill a snake, if there's no head left, it simply can't bite you.

I believe it is a state law that if you kill a venomous snake you must bury the head?
You do realize that even when a human is decapitated the eyes roll around and the mouth will still open and close for a few moments, right?

Interesting that the doctor in the video said if you get bit by a venomous snake, to hold the bitten (hand in this case) above the heart. We just had a snake expert speak about rattlers, cause this is the season, say to hold it below the heart.
