How do our players match Kelly's offense?

It seems to me that Kelly's hire is likely enough to warrant discussion of how our players fit his offense. Because of his NFL experience, I believe he will alter his offense to fit the personnel, at least initially. But I worry that our O-line is so different from what Kelly wants that it will be a substantial problem. What do you think?

Franks plays the role of Marcus Mariota.

Mariota had 20 or 30 something tds and maybe 5 ints as a frosh.

Franks has a lot of miles to travel to Hit those numbers in his first year with Kelly

I doubt any coach wants our O-line.

Del Rio hopefully never wears the UF uniform again. Jackoff.

I think Kelly, unlike some other coach I heard say it, would really tailor his O to his players to some extent. From the bit I've heard him break down film, he really looks at stressing areas. What that means is that I think he wants a QB athletic enough for a D to have to account for, but not necessarily the next mariotta. I think guys like Franks and Corral would be plenty. He went after Bradford in the NFL, but maybe that was largely due to it being the NFL. As far as the oline, I don't think you can have a huge oline play at the pace he wants. On the flip side, he lost to auburn almost entirely bc his interior line could handle their DTs and it killed a big staple of their packaged plays. RBs are RBs. I think he found some really good smaller guys, but he also had Blount there before the punch. The biggest position group to benefit would have to be TE/HB. We'd actually benefit from Nord sucking at recruiting, bc we'd have guys more suited to Kelly than macnuss. Stephens, Lewis, Gamble and both current commits are all suited for for of a HB role.

I hope the following would happen:

He would somewhat adapt his offense to the players that he has.

He and his staff would greatly improve our current roster, by better strength and conditioning and actual coaching especially at the WR and TE positions. I understand our WRs don't run their routes correctly not to mention any options to adjust in real time.

Hopefully getting him on board now will allow us to obtain some additional players to fit his desires. both in early enrollies (could count to last year) and next years group.

I can't remember where I found it at the moment, but I ran into a discussion in a video earlier between Urban Meyer and Chip Kelly talking about Chip Kelly's offense at Oregon. At the end of the video, Chip said he always designs his offense around the players he has. Just like Urban always said, and Urban again agreed with him that's the ONLY way to be successful.

How do we know if our players fit any scheme. They’ve never been coached before

He’s always had a dual threat QB. We’ll see how well Franks/Corral/Allen fit that mold.

I think we have plenty of kids on our current roster capable of excelling in Kelly's O. Add in a few true freshman playmakers and we'll be much improved on that side of the ball.

The key is for the new S&C staff to toughen up our OL and our Defense. We need to instill toughness in this team....and discipline. This team is soft and mentally weak. They need a good kick in the ass. If that happens, I think we see a completely different team - w/ mostly the same players.

    I can't wait!!

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe Franks has the longest run of the season so far, so he’s not averse to moving the chains with his legs.

Plus, that run felt like it took about 7 minutes. So even with the up tempo, our defense should get sufficient rest.

Lemons and Davis fit perfectly. Cleveland, Toney and a few others at receiver will work fine. As far as QB, the best part of Kelly's system is the simplicity. You don't even run the huddle. Mariota had to learn how when he got to the titans. He even had to learn how to call a play. lol. If Franks can't run Kelly's system, then he probably shouldn't even be in college. If Zaire got the extra year of eligibility he'd been seeking, I think he'll be your starter.

They did a replay and tracked the total number of yards he ran, zig-zagging around, and it was somewhere around 120 yards (for a 70+ yard gain).

No, he was right. There was no offense. They WERE going to run the option with Leak (and Brantley) regardless and therefore the was little to no offense (except the OSU game).

I think Del Rio and Allen will probably be out of luck with him as coach - especially Del Rio. I would think Corral could start as a true freshman with him but I do wonder if he could get much out of Franks if he wanted to start him with the quick decisions that have to be made and Franks loving to Driskel when he is out there.
