Bytch is 1-1 vs Butters with the one loss coming on a missed field goal.

I'm not sure what we are chuckling about. If Butters gets Vole Raped again this year, at least we know Bytch may stay around longer.

Tuberville left Ole Piss for the Barn. I just can't see Bytch leaving for the inbreds.
I meant Mullen leaving for the inbreds.

I'm not saying he's a world beater but I actually think he's a better overall coach than you're giving him credit for. Missy St. isn't the easiest place to lure talent to and there aren't enough home grown kids to live off each year. He may be able to step up his recruiting game at a higher profile place like TN, plus he'd be walking in to an upgraded roster immediately as Butch, despite his coaching shortcomings, has recruited pretty well during his time in Knoxville.

I rest my case. Bring on Mr. "0-4 Against the Gators" Peyton Manning as the next HC of TN. Can you imagine the "Who's Got The Bigger Set of Horse Teeth" contest we could have with Mac and Peyton during halftime??? It would be a dentist's wet dream!

**EDIT**- In hindsight I think I mentally transposed Elway's horse teeth onto Peyton. Instead, we'll market the event as Mac's chompers vs. Peyton's forehead.

He is below average. Well below average in fact. If it werent for his steady diet of directional or 1AA teams (4 per year), and yearly game vs their "rival" Kintucky, plus the inevitable easy win vs whichever team is currently a dumpster fire in the west (Arky since Petrino left) LSU with an interim, soon to be Ole Miss, hed have no wins at all.

He only averages 2 victories a year against a team that isnt a directional school or Kintucky.

Plenty of coaches have gone into Western Kintuckies or Toledos of the world an won. Cousin Eddie isnt one of them.

Swonky, you need to lay off the booze so early on a Friday. Mullen's not coaching at Toledo or Western KY, he's coaching in the toughest division in CFB, so the comparison you drew isn't valid. Secondly, I'd bet his win% against SEC East and for that matter all SEC games is better than Butch. As you've noted, the East is full of the weak sisters of the blind. Butch gets 6 games per year against these weaklings while Mullen plays a murders' row by comparison yet you knock Mullen for getting an easy SECWest win against a team that's a dumpster fire? What the hell does Butch get in the East...more dumpster fires.  Again, I'm not saying he's a world beater but he's better than Mr. Champions of Life.

Both terrible. Btw, he is 25-35 vs SEC and 4-35 vs ranked teams. Even worse than Butters and Bytch. Here is the latest I could find quickly.

    https://www.seccountry.com/sec/every-current-sec-head-coach-vs-ranked-teams

As for his record being better vs SEC, prove it. I doubt it, even with HALF of his games vs SEC east being against Kintucky.

Mullen is 29-35 in SEC play just barely better than Butch Jones record % wise against the SEC.

No doubt many coaches follow the money trail. And it is is very doubtful he will win any kind of championship in the West behind Alabama. LSU. Auburn. etc. But the leash at Tenn will be much shorter than the one he has now. Do these factors balance? Your points are well made.

Swonky, unfortunately the overall numbers just don't support your position that Jones is better than Mullen. It's really not even close. Below are the regular season numbers for both of them. I show Mullen for his entire time at Missy St. and then broke out his numbers since 2013 which was Butch's 1st at Tennessee. It's really not even close when you take into account the fact that the majority of Butch's conference games are against the very weak East while the majority of Mullen's conference games are against the very strong West. Also, the difference in their respective records against Top 10 teams is extremely glaring.

    Mullen W/L(8 seasons)
    SEC East 14-5 .737 WP
    SEC West. 15-30 .333 WP
    SEC Total 29-35 .453 WP
    vs Top 10. 4-13 .235 WP
    vs Top 25 6-28 .176 WP

    Jones W/L (4 seasons beg 2013)
    SEC East 14-10 .583 WP
    SEC West. 0-8 .000 WP
    SEC Total. 14-18 .437 WP
    vs Top 10. 0-11 .000 WP
    vs Top 25. 4-15 .210 WP

    Mullen W/L (since 2013)
    SEC East 6-2 .750 WP
    SEC West. 10-14 .417 WP
    SEC Total. 16-16 .500 WP
    vs Top 10. 4-5 .444 WP
    vs Top 25. 4-13 .235 WP

**EDIT TO MAKE TABLE EASIER TO READ***

I'm having trouble seeing any difference between two mediocre coaches to below average coaches. I'm also wondering why you want to exclude Mullett's first five years.

Fixed it. I didn't exclude his first 5 seasons. I showed Mullen's record for his full tenure at Missy St. and I separately showed his time at Missy St. since 2013 so people could see how he's done during the same timeframe since Butch joined the SEC coaching ranks.

There may be a shorter leash at TN but the way HC contracts are typically structured, TN would most likely be obligated to pay Mullen the full balance of the contract were they to fire him with the exception a few specific reasons (I.e.- fire him for cause other than the W/L record, if he takes a new job after being fired in which case an offset would be applied, etc.). TN probably couldn't run him too quickly either. If so, they'll potentially be looking at 3 LOST DECADES, which would be pretty freaking great if you ask me!

Chip Kelly is just sitting out there with no buyout and they are looking at Mullen?
